  8. An estimated 2.3 million people in the UK had COVID in the week up to 23 December - a substantial rise on the 1.4 million the previous week. I guess we'll see the knock on effect next week with the NHS given the usual 2 week delay
  9. The midwifes been on a our daughter about getting jabbed all through the pregnancy. I know there's supposed to be a lot of pregnant woman with covid in hospital who are not jabbed
  10. Really fucking angry at one of my daughters. She's 7 months pregnant got 3 kids & refuses to get jabbed. About an hour ago told me she didn't feel to hood & did a test. Hey presto its came back positive. I've said to her loads of times have you had the jab the same reply not yet. Now this its to bloody late & no doubt the kids will get it as well now grrrr
  11. Sky News The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 is increasing significantly, it has been warned, with another hospital suspending visitors "due to health and safety concerns". Dr Chaand Nagpaul, chairman of the council at the British Medical Association, told Sky News: "What's concerning is that we are seeing significant increases in people in hospital. "In fact, as of yesterday, the number of people admitted and also the number of patients in hospital is at a level as high as during the lockdown earlier this year in spring, in February-March.

  17. Newcastle reject Alli opportunity Newcastle United have rejected the chance to sign Tottenham forward Dele Alli, reports Football Insider. It’s claimed the Magpies were offered the opportunity to sign the 25-year-old in January, with Spurs willing to help Alli secure more regular game-time. But Eddie Howe has no intention of bringing Alli to St. James’ Park, with the Newcastle boss’ focus on strengthening other areas of his squad.

  20. Wales A maximum of six people will be allowed to meet in pubs, cinemas and restaurants in Wales from 26 December, the first minister has announced. And two metres social distancing rules are to return in public places, Mark Drakeford said. Licensed premises will have to offer table service only, face masks will have to be worn and contact tracing details collected. Outdoor events will be limited to 50, with 30 indoors. Advice has been given to limit household mixing and use lateral flow tests beforehand, with a specific offence for having gatherings of more than 30 people.

New restrictions on large-scale events from Boxing Day Ms Sturgeon says that restrictions have not been take lightly From 26 December for three weeks, limits on public events in Scotland will be put in place: 100 standing at indoor events 200 seated at indoor events 500 at outdoor seated and standing events Ms Sturgeon says this will include sporting events and "large-scale" Hogmanay celebrations - including Edinburgh's street party - but not events like weddings. It means that sporting stadia will be empty from Boxing Day onwards, with games being played behind closed doors. The first minister says that non-professional contact sports should not go ahead until the end of the first weekend of January. Indoor hospitality will be moved to table service only, with social distancing implemented. No more than three households will be allowed to gather. There will be financial help, Ms Sturgeon says, for those industries impacted - with £175 million extra allocated to business support in Scotland - bringing the total to £375 million.
