they've been dignified in defeat tbh - fans and manager. Arsenal, take note -
worth watching just for bob, legend. he never fails to make me laugh
-

wasn't in the mood to start adolescence last night, though it's on our list, so ended up watching last laugh on amazon prime. the premise is a bunch of comedians in a room, including bob mortimer, are given six hours to try and make each other laugh. you get a yellow card for laughing and a red card for two laughs. bob's "joker" in the second episode when he he was performing a magic show, while all he other comedians ended up pulling gurning faces as they tried desperately not to laugh, had me absolutely pissing myself. only negative so far is it's hosted by jimmy carr.

I’ll never forget the second leg of the Arsenal semi final at home. Atmosphere was as good as anything I’ve seen at sjp since the 90s. It was like an away day - I was in the gallowgate but the noise sounded like it was coming from all corners. -

it was a good old fashioned swing with the weaker foot. The thing is they’re professional footballers. Most of them can hit a better cross with their weaker foot than most of us can with out strong one. I’d like to see inverted wingers to do it more often. Of course you go inside on your stronger foot more often but keep the full back guessing by mixing it up. Barnes did that well on Sunday I thought -

I wonder if he stays now or bows out on a high. He was such an important first signing and achieved what he set out to so he might decide to bow out and as see out his career somewhere where he can get more regular game time. I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to depart. His off-field problems are well documented and he could probably get a decent final pay day in Saudi or somewhere in Europe but I’d love him to stay on. His legs might be going but he still has plenty to offer, particularly if we make champions league. -

It was a captain’s performance by Trippier. There was a one moment I was struck by when he and Bruno were talking to the ref. Bruno was getting a bit fiery and Trippier just put an arm out across his body to hold him back a bit and calm him down as he reasoned with the ref. -

we were well represented, for once, with 2 (two) pundits. I loved hearing Shay and Sir Les big us up

another takeaway from rewatching the match sober last night that i forgot to mention in my earlier post: slot completely fucked it. he just kept throwing on attacking players; liverpool completely lost their shape as a result and we played through them in the second half with ease. he even threw VVD up front towards the end. it felt like panic stations from manager who may well turn out to be a tad overrated. is it too soon to suggest that liverpool are winning the title this year in part because the rest of the league is a bit shit? or maybe because the midtable teams are more competitive and they're the one side that has managed to convert draws into victories, despite not always playing that well. i think if you take TAA and Salah out of that side, which may well happen next season, they might look quite ordinary.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he does get a statue or a stand named after him in the future but not now. Howe would hate the idea - he still has a job to do
-
fuck that. It means so much more than finishing top four and the all the money that brings in. I’ll be disappointed if we miss out on CL now but the season is a triumph whatever happens next
-
don’t worry, I’ve sent gloating messages to all my Liverpool-supporting mates. London is full of them. Middle aged blokes with zero connection to the city who support them because they grew up in the 80s they’ve taken it surprisingly well tbh. They seem genuinely happy for us, unlike a lot of other fanbases
-
I see a few of the rags have been linking Bruno with a move to Arsenal today. And Romano has linked Isak with Liverpool. They can’t just fuck off and let us enjoy the moment can they? We’re clearly not welcome in the cartel club

Just watched it again with sober eyes. Main takeaways: Burn’s performance was Herculean. He won absolutely everything in the air. Both sides were unusually direct, to our advantage. I think it was our game plan, to pump it long and use our midfield advantage to win the second balls. Liverpool were forced to go long too because we didn’t allow them to play out. We won duels all over the pitch. They couldn’t cope with our athleticism and tenacity. And when we had to defend, which didn’t happen too often, we blocked pretty much everything. They were all 10/10 performances but Burn, Joelinton, Tonali, Tino and Trippier were different class. Hat tip to the crowd. It sounded like we were playing at home. Barely a peep from the scousers

Wife’s out tonight so I think I might watch the final for a third time. First time sober
