i thought shearer was dreadful yesterday. he can't play alongside shola. shola can't play alongside shearer either, but at least he can run. the only way shearer can be used now is if he has someone with pace alongside him to do all his donkeywork. even then, he looked a shadow of his former self in the penalty box. he missed a couple of chances he would have buried a couple of years back. shola is never going to be anywhere near the player that shearer was in his prime but at the moment, he looks the more lively of the two and imo doesn't deserve all the stick he gets. he's definitely adopted the role of scapegoat now larry robert has gone.
-
So you're denying that he's shit 62026 yes. he's not the best player in the world but i don't think he's as shit as people suggest on here. he certainly doesn't deserve more stick for his performance yesterday than shearer, yet i don't see too many people queuing up to have a pop at our number 9.
-
why is he such a scapegoat? he did far more than shearer yesterday.
-
no; he said he rates shearer but that he holds too much infulence. there's no doubt that kluivert was a disapointing last season, but i think he's got a point. the few games he looked up to it were when he played alongside bellamy when shearer was injured. but as soon as shearer came back, bellamy was moved out on to the wing.
-
great player, but if we've got that sort of money to spend i think it should go on a new striker or defender. midfield is the one ara i think we're pretty well equipped.
-
neither has shearer this season though tbh 62008 Shearer's not blaming someone else for his poor season though, thats the difference 62010 he doesn't have to though does he? he's guranteed a place in the starting eleven now matter how poor he's playing.
-
neither has shearer this season though tbh
-
he did look slow and sluggish yesterday, but i've seen him play for la coruna and he's looked a class act. it's too early to judge him, but if he puts in too many performances like that he'll no doubt have the boo boys on his back.
-
i really hope shearer isn't our new manager. i wouldn't mind him as number two to someone like hitzfeld or o'neil but it's far too soon for him to be thrown in at the deep end. either way, if souness keeps these results and performances up he could be on his way out sooner rather than later. it's not good enough with the amount of money he's spent.

To be exact.... 59531 I blame "The Notorious HTT" myself. 59533 genius

Should Dyer be considered a regular starter?
Dr Gloom replied to Django Reinhardt's topic in Newcastle Forum
See the two bits in bold. You mention 6 players but they wouldn't have all played. It's far from certain that Carr would do anything better than Ramage, and Taylor has dropped numerous gaffs this season. Shearer is on his last legs, Luque still has to adjust. My point still stands, I think only Owen would make a significant difference from that lot. I know people will moan at what I'm going to post now, but if we still had Bellamy, Robert and Hughes, along with Owen those players would make a difference imo. 58587 agree with you on most of that but surely not hughes? he's a decent squad player but no better imo than any of our current crop of defenders bar elliot, who is no where near the first team at the moment. makes you wonder why souness sold him and retained elliot tbh -
all the best old school posters are on this board, but it moves too slowly. i find myself switching between here and NO but never staying long at either. the old toontastic board was the best - a quality mix of banter and debate, and it moved as quickly as newcastle online. shame that a lot of the guys that used to post on it are missing in action. this board has potential but it needs a few more pennies in the meter so to speak

he's off to man u - one of football's worst kept secrets at the moment

what a tragedy - no paul dickov or barry ferguson

As I said to Alex. You got a problem with me ( don't know why like ) go to PM. Surprised you're up and about at 2154, school tomorrow like. 53694 Cos you're a prize twat. Ooops, sorry, i'll send you a PM like a real man would. No school, just graft, got a life see, don't go on forums looking for fights. 54129 Who does? Apart from you that is, unless you think calling a stranger a 'twat" to their face might not start a fight, like. Why don't you go out tonight and call a stranger a twat, just to test whether this might start a fight or not? How ironic your comment is. All I want to talk about is football. It would be nice if people would accept that being asked why they have an opinion is not abuse, but that being called a twat, cunt, bastard, or anything else you lot find acceptable, is abuse. 54523 You have an incredibly selective memory htl! 54633 You're running out, aren't you? Some people have posted stuff about football, why not respond to that, mate? 54647 Running out of what? Insults? Not a chance mate when it come to hypocritic numbskulls like yourself who believe their opinion is the be all and end all. I'll post in my own time, mate. 54735 this forum may as well merge back with newcastle-online tbh

Going to explain why? 51830 Indeed, although i think it's fairly obvious and has been for a long time. Apart from pace he has no other attributes as a footballer imo. He can't pass, control, head, tackle, finish, read the game. Sticking him up front would be the lesser of 2 evils but it would simply mean another "striker" playing with the ball bobbling up around his knees (see Ameobi). Dyer hasn't progressed as a footballer for at least 3 or 4 years now, yet he still gets into our team, is paid a small fortune and gets into the England squad!! Were being short changed by this prick yet some fans think he should play up front! At least with Bellamy after his first year of showing us he had raw talent, the second season he'd honed certain area's of his game and had improved significantly, whereas Dyer in contrast is still at the level he was after his first season with us, and that level imo is pretty fucking mediocre! 51846 did you not see the match on sunday? dyer changed the game when he came on. he can run all day, pick a pass and take on and beat a man. he's a quality player, when fit. for me, his main weakness is his poor injury record and his finshing. if he can sort that out, he can get back into the england squad, and certainly give us anoter option upfront. owen will poach goals all day, and i fancy dyer's pace and movement alongside him would create more space for our number 10.
-
could work i reckon. owen playing on the last man's shoulder with dyer dropping deep and using pace and tricks to make space. sort of like the role rooney plays for england. it would be great for movement and pace. we would struggle with those two up top if we need to go direct - though you could always bring shearer off the bench to win more in the air.
-
if everyone stays fit until then, i fancy us to give chelsea a decent game. i hope souness plays his strongest team and has a go rather than playing defensive and sticking faye in the middle of the park. the only way to stop chelsea is to press them at a high tempo from the off. never let them settle.
-
any variation on this will do for me ----------------------------given carr-------------boum----------------taylor-------------babbayaro solano/dyer--------parker-------emre-------dyer/n'zogbia/luque ----------------------owen---------luque/shearer/dyer

we haven't had too much to sing about the last year or two. it was good to hear the lads in such good voice. and if souness does get us to europe...he can be the king. it's a nice ditty reminiscent of better times. we don't hear it enough these days.
-
why are we moaning about shola? we won 3-0 - he didn't have that bad a game. it's not like we lost, with shola missing 3 sitters and putting one in hs own net.

it's hard to imagine this man will make a successful manager
-
i noticed that. it was the same from throw ins. every time we got one, no fucker made themelves available. the movement was non-existant and we kept on throwing the ball straight to the opposition. you'd think our players would be busting a gut to find some space and demand the ball against that shite.
