shame we can't keep them both. barton, dyer, butt, parker and emre is good competition for the central midfield places. i imagine his wages are too much for him not to be an automatic starter, which to be fair he shouldn't be.

i'm not convinced barton is captain material tbh. anybody who will thinks the press are trying to portray him him as a psycopath just for putting out a cigarette on a team mate's face is obviously not quite all there.

if we don't sign a new right back i reckon solano will start most games - he wouldn't be a bad choice of captain in the lead by example mould.

at least it means parker is no longer captain, which has to be a good thing because he was an automatic starter regardless of how he was playing. who would everyone make the new skipper? i'd give the armband to either solano or given.

i can't see barton and emre complementing each other too well. hope i'm wrong like.

the only way luque is going is on loan to someone like psv and even then we're still going to be paying a chunk of his wages. no one is going to sign him permanently on that money

Barring 5 or so games last summer he's played virtually no football for a year and a half. I'm not surprised he's rusty tbh. i'll be (pleasantly) surprised if he recovers to be as effective a player as he was before he did his knee. he looks to have lost a yard of pace to me. i hope for our sake that his restricted movement is just lack of match sharpness.

i watch a fair bit of footie. mostly highlights and live games on sky - not enough to know anywhere near as much about other clubs' players as well as our own. but i think it's pretty easy to tell after a few games if a player has got anything about them or is a total donkey.

really? i can't say i've seen a lot of bolton recently but he's always impressed me whenever i've seen him. i've always thought he was unlucky not to get an england cap behind the likes of jenas, phil neville, kieron richardson et al

I think he's about the same stamp as Barton tbh. I think both are probably a tad overrated. nolan scores goals too though and can play further up the field. barton reminds me a bit of jenas and parker. is he a defensive midfielder? is he an attacking midfileder? i don't think even he knows tbh He only managed 3 in the league this season.
