as long as owen stays i can't see us going for anything but a 4-4-2
-
at least shola will put in a decent shift every week. it remians to be seen whether viduka's workrate is up to it.
-
he might to better at blues where he'll be the main man. looks the sort that sulks if he's rotated with other strikers. £6m does seem steep mind. did spurs even pay that for him?
-
it's funny how much is still made of out 'atmopshere' at home games despite it being pretty much non-existent for at least 5 or 6 years now.
-
like dyer, the stick he gets is largely overblown. i reckon he could link up well with owen or martins. he was one of our best players before his op, despite carrying an injury.
-
spot on. it's just a shame he's always crocked.
-
And you call Viduka a lazy fat ozzie You truly have a fucked up valuation of a player worth to a team don't you Dan? when dyer is fit he is an asset to the team. i don't think his ability comes into his question; it's his injury history that lets him down. viduka seems to me the kind of player that only turns up when he fancies it. hope i'm wrong like because he's got loads of talent when he does turn up. plus he's as fat as all offside.

don't sell. we'll miss his pace and ability to run with the ball if he goes. he's worth keeping even if he only plays half the games in a season

Owen woos Tyneside by bidding for the captaincy
Dr Gloom replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
i'm guessing owen might see out his contract as captain, then if we haven't progressed under sam he'll probably fuck off to a bigger club on a freebie -
i agree but i thought the same about reading last year
-
he's not really anything tbh is he? Has he been tried as defensive midfielder? Or in the Falklands war? next viana?

six? Oba Owen Shola Luque Viduka Carroll luque? reckon he'll get many games this season as a striker like?
-
six?

good news in that we don't have to sign more strikers with owen staying. not that we couldn't find room for better than we have already, but it means we can focus on improving the defence and midfield as a priority.
-
hopefully carr won't occupy the number 2 shirt for too much longer either
-
weird that nobby has lost his number 4 shirt. i would have thought butt would have fancied that one but why was it up for grabs in the first place i wonder?
-
£15m spent non too wisely it seems.

With the exception of strikers I agree. Sam and the new regieme are doing the right things so far but as things currently stand we couldn't really field a stong first eleven for the first game let alone look like having a strong squad for the whole season. Plenty of time left yet like and I think things will move very quickly from now on. Wasn't the 18th of July mentioned as a date when MA's control would be absolute or something like that? just as long as they don't leave it all until the final day of the window a'la shepherd. it would be nice if the majority of the new signings get a proper pre-season before the real thing kicks off for once.
-
i'm not going to be optimistic until we sign some genuine talent. we need another two defenders minimum but we're lacking in depth in all areas.
-
shame if it's true. i reckon he could have done a job for us
-
the fact that big sam keeps banging on about martins' release clause suggests to me he's trying to tout him in the shop window
-
if those three get over 50 goals between them we should be challenging for a top 4 spot.
-
you don't ask for much do you?
-
letting the zog go would be big sam's first mistake
