i wouldn't bet against owen getting it now he's come out and said he wants to stay. he's guaranteed to start when fit so it would make sense. i'd give to nobby if sam sees him as a first team regular. given is the obvious contender, but i'm not a fan of goalies as captain. it has come to soon for taylor imo

shame blaydon doesn't post anymoer tbh. you'd be guaranteed a 10 page thread

good news that we're signing up our young talent or will he ever step up to the level we need and hold down a first team place week in week out? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/6897364.stm Newcastle's James Milner has signed a new four-year deal with the club. The 21-year-old told the club's website: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. "Newcastle United is a great football club and hopefully I can be here for a few more years yet and help the team be a success. "It is an exciting time at the club and I am very happy to be a part of it," added the England Under 21 international winger. Milner had enjoyed a break after playing for England in the Under 21 Championship in Holland this summer. But he returned to training with his Newcastle colleagues on Friday.

we'll do well to compete with arsenal let alone leapfrog them

got to be better than carr. i wonder - if there's any truth in this - whether this means the move for beye is a non-starter.
-
is that a fact?
-
another four defenders incoming?

dead cert tbh

leighton baines mark II?

all i know about this laad is that he broke beckham's foot. fuck knows if he's any good at anything else.

Owen - I want to stay at Newcastle United
Dr Gloom replied to smoggeordie's topic in Newcastle Forum
about bloody time, but great news. hopefully he will see out the final two uears of his contract fit and back to his best, scoring goals. -
that and nufc.com saying there could be truth in it. we might have had a bid accepted with barca but unless we've offered him silly money, why is he going to pick us when he could move to pretty much any club on the continent?
-
not going to happen.
-
there's no way martins is worth £13m like.
-
don't think we need him now we've got fattie viduka
-
The Ronnie Gill has us going for Heinze. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcast...-name_page.html he's been linked with real and juve already. can't see it happening. and tbh, i think he's a better center back than left back. i can't understand why united don't want to keep him as he covers two positions but i'd prefer a left back with a pace that can do some damage on the overlap
-
£23m whoah. i guess that would explain how we coudl sign him. depsite his obvious class, i can't see too many clubs paying that much for a 29 year old when henry has just gone for £16m

cue anal oliver's "wide of the mark" piece in tonght's chronicle

what are the reliable sources nufc.com talks of? as far as i can see it's only the notw reporting it, and it was hardly a big splash.

i can't remember the last time we had a playmaker that could compare to deco in terms of ability. i'm guessing beardsley. deco's the sort of player you could build a team around. a midfielder of genuine class that can play between the lines; a midfielder who, unlike our recent bunch, has more than just a 'good engine' going for him. because of that, i can't see it happening. surely it's got about as much truth in it as stevietoon's baines rumour?
-
Bad argument; Chelsea and Inter have money too. right, which is why i said he's he's far more likely to sign for one of them. unless we're offering silly money.
-
i'd be a lot more optimistic about next season if we start attracting playes of deco's quality. he's a genuine world class player at the peak of his powers. i can't udnerstand why barca would want to get rid of him tbh. and surely if they did, the likes of chelsea, inter milan etc would be in for him ahead of us. then again, money does talk.
-
Not like you to be pessimistic. i'll show my arse in fenwicks window if this deco deal comes off
-
can't see deco or raul joining in a million years tbh

Is it too early for Taylor to be captain?!
Dr Gloom replied to bassplayerjj's topic in Newcastle Forum
i think it's too early. the captain should be a guaranteed starter, which taylor isn't at present
