The irony of this comment. Fucking incredible. especially when you read the whole of this thread. leazes continues to avoid questions he can't answer without contradicting himself ... ie repeatedly ignoring the fish.

you praying for the takeover or Leazes hanging himself? The takeover it would be too much fun leazes baiting when we win the league for him to hang himself. would I now ? I find it extremely puzzling how a long term supporter like you - or so you say - is STILL naive enough to think that any such takeover is going to put us automatically into the top 4 on a permanent basis, as there are only 4 clubs who have finished higher than us in the last decade and qualified more for europe. Because - if they don't, then they have not done so well ? Whatever their "plan". I can understand Dan the brain thinking this though not like you to try and put words in people's mouths leazes.

sign of things to come?
-
nope. stella early doors. jim beam, gin & tonic or havana club and coke late doors

i can't see a place for parker in the starting eleven on current form assuming all of the below are fit: Given Nobby Taylor Ramage Baba Milner Butt Emre Duff Martins Dyer
-
leazesmag will be buzzing

i can't understand why lucas neil keeps being linked with big clubs. he's always looked complete gash whenever i've seen him play.
-
why the sad face? that's more like it imo. hopefully we'll have half a fit side by then
-
i quite fancied a big club this round
-
not many massive clubs in it this year. i can't see a clear favourite out of tht lot

Given 7 - differnt class as usual. Huntington 6 - coped well with robben on a difficult debut Taylor 6 - solid Ramage 5 - good defensively but awful distribution Baba 4 - awful. playing alongside three kids and he looked like the rookie Milner 6 - can't fault his workrate but his final ball lacks quality and he isn't quick enough to take the likes of ashely cole on Butt 7 - up there with le sib for man of the match Zoggy 6 - looked good before injury Rossi 5 - nice touches and neat in possesion without ever posing much of a threat in the final third. The Sib 7 - used the ball well, brought others into play. Martins - 5 great effort and some signs of pace but he lacked composure and movement was poor. Pattison 4 - crap. Luque 4 - ditto

How long have we been waiting on a commanding CB? Woodgate was the last and the first we've had in a long time. The effect this sort of player can have on the whole back four cannot be underestimated yet they are few and far between. We do need to take our time and select the right player after the money we wasted on Boumsong but it certainly is a priority and is what I would identify our most urgent need. Yes we need new full backs but the influence of a leader at the back maay even turn Carr and Baba into semi-useless players rather than the giant-turd like oxygen thiefs they currently are. I'm a firm believer that when it comes to centre backs its not just their skill but their effect on the players around them and their ability to lead and command which is something we need desperately (although Moore does it to a certain degree). i don't think the likes of taylor, moore, ramage and bramble are good enough for where we want to be, but if we had a couple of decent full backs they would improve the back four end. carr and babayaro are just not good enough and we don't have any cover at either right back or left back

how long is it going to take dyer to recover from a gash in his leg ffs?
-
i thought chelsea were poor. we put out a very poor and inexperienced side and they only had two real chances (including the goal) and we hit the post. i've got to eat my words about sibierski like - i thought he was our best player last night. he always showed for the ball, good touch and won almost everything that came his way in the air. unlike luque who flounced around for 15 minutes at the end barely touching the ball. you'd never guess which one we paid £10m on.
-
i watched martins closely last night, and while you can't question his effort, he still looks flat footed. he always seems to wait until the ball is played before making a run, inevitably resulting in the defender getting their first. it's a shame really because he's got the pace to get in behind far more often than he does if only he timed his runs better.
-
i was half hoping dyer, emre or nobby might be fit. there's not a lot of class in that eleven
-
cringeworthy. why does he feel the need to continue spouting such drivel?
-
Cheers for that! Rossi on the right wing like he was when he came on against Blackburn maybe? i might revise my predicition to a 5-0 home win. we're going to get cained with that lineup
-
me i'm in with the chelsea support anarl. i'm just hoping for a performance. i expect us to get walloped but am hopeful that we will at least try to compete. could be a long night if they get an early goal

any scots on the board rate him?

2 league goals this season suggests otherwise. he hasn't started that many games in the league tbf. he's scored a few for england in for liverpool ib cup competitions. isn't he their top scorer in the champions league this season? 14 starts and 6 sub appearances. I'd be very reluctant to spend the money required on a player based on a purple patch, IMO Crouch is very much a hot and cold player and not one I'd have a great deal of confidence in. he's never going to be prolific over the course of a season but you've also got to look at what he offers to the team. he's a good outlet and plays well with his back to goal - exactly the kind of player we need imo. the downside on that is the increased temptation for the likes of bramble to lump it forward to the big fella. i'd expect him to chip in with 10-15 goals a season - not bad if he's playing alongside a clinical finisher like owen. but tbph, i don't see it happening. he'll be too expensive for us plus i can't see why he'd want to leave liverpool - he's still their third choice striker and he's bound to still get a few games.
-
i wouldn't mind a bit of what he's toking for tonight. could ease the pain, marginally.
-
i'd like to see us sign a couple of quality full backs, and a forward. babayaro and carr will do as backup but they're not good enough to be first choice. and for all his effort, i don't think i can handle watching ramage at left back again so a new left back is a must. we're in bad need of a commanding centre half too but that one might have to wait until the summer.

Except at NUFC for the last 9 consecutive seasons. I can't remember the last season without a massive injury crisis and I can remember at least 4 with basically a whole team out injured for at least one point in the season. The biggest difference THIS season is our complete squad is smaller than it has been for a long time (not so very long ago there were 50 professionals in the books – far too many certainly, but we seem to have gone in the opposite direction now). exactly, it was so obvious to all of us that as soon as get our usual bunch of injuries we'd struggle because of how small the squad is. anyone, with the exception of leazesmag, would suggest there was a lack of foresight or dare i say planning on the chairman's part. i'm sure roeder would have liked to have gone into the new season without one of the smallest squads in the league. find it difficult to stop laughing at you when you think the chairman is the manager. The manager chose to - correctly - invest in - in his opinion - quality forwards. He used his budget to do this. Do you really expect the club to continue spending big money they don't have ? If you advocate buying lots of players for 2 or 3m who are no better than what we have, where exactly would that get us and how many of those have we bought that you have said aren't good enough. As i said, it is getting more difficult to stop laughing at you. Or do you continue to think the board can continue to fund their managers massively - then absurdly continue to STILL label them a shit board ???? Give yourself a shake and ask yourself how many other boards match our spending - although I know you think it isn't relevant like Absolutely amazing. the manager identifies which players he wants but the chairman sanctions the signings you spas. do you really think roeder was happy going into this season with just six defenders, and the shower of shite we've got up front? he obviously wasn't because he's been moaning about the size of the squad all season. it's the chaiman's job to balance the books and make sure that the manager has enough money to get the players he wants. the fact that we didn't have enough money left to get all of roeder's targets is shepherd's fault - he's hardly the best negotiator in the world is he? just look at how much money we've blown in recent seasons compared with what we've made selling our players.
