a fully fit newcastle front six with ronaldo doesn't look too bad on paper -------------------given solano----taylor--------moore---------???? dyer-----parker/butt------emre------duff/n'zogbia ----------ronaldo---------owen/martins
-
has got paddy kluivert written all over it but i'd take him on a 6 month loan deal and see how he goes.

Afraid we're all too happy to settle for it, marra. That doesnt surprise me like, but what does is the fact the club are still justifying it by using the lines his 'best is yet to come'/'potential' etc etc etc. Jesus wept. he's had enough chances and he's proven again and again that he's not good enough. he's not a kid anymore. shocking news. we should have slung him back to ipswich
-
fuck off! we will never achieve anything while that numpty is a first choice centre back. get rid, don't be offering him a new contract ffs!
-
seen shearer, given, bramble and speed down the diamond in ponteland regularly and down the chinese in darras hall - the footballers are always in there on a saturday night
-
the problem with martins for me is his movement. with all that pace, he could create far more chances for himself if he timed his runs better. he always seems to be on his heels when the ball is played through, rather than gambling by trying to anticipate where the pass will go. how often do you see him attacking the near post when a cross comes in? but you can't question his workrate and as long as he keeps scoring 20 yard screamers, i think we'll let him off.

Given 10 - my man of the match. martins gets the plaudits but we would have been 4 or 5 down by half time if it wasn't for super shay Nobby 7 - has to keep carr out of the side. best right back we've had in years. Taylor 5 - struggled to cope with defoe and berbatov Ramage 4 - shicking distribution from the back and doesn't close men down in the box quick enough. you would see john terry standing off berbatov for his goal like ramamge did Huntingdon 7 - assured performance from the youngster. coped well with lennon. can't remember him getting skinned too many times. made one well timed challenge and one juicy foul Milner 5 - same old story. good approach work; poor final ball. Butt 7 - Great job as midfield anchor Pattison 4 - I didn't notice him all game apart from his wasted header chance. easy to forget he was playing. Dyer 6 - Came in to the game in the second half but is more of a threat out wide or as a striker, than in centre mid where it can be too congested for him to pin his ears back Le Sib 7 - another solid performance from a player none of us wanted at the club. the only man on our books that can play with his back to goal Martins 7 - poor movement again from someone with such electric pace. but who cares when he can turn a game by firing in a 30 yard rocket and setting up the winner with a cute through ball

i rate him. my west ham mate reckons he's class.

Anyone surprised we haven't signed anyone yet.
Dr Gloom replied to DavB93's topic in Newcastle Forum
no. we don't do our business until the final day of the window. -
thank christ

we need new strikers and new defenders. the squad is wafer thin tbh. the bench today was a joke.
-
jimmy traore? i loved this little ditty the liverpool fans used to sing a few years back - "don't blame it on the finnan, don't blame it on the hamman, don't blame it on the biscan, blame it on the traore. he just can't; he just can't; he just can't control his feet. "
-
from what i remember of him in the champions league for valencia a few years back, he makes heskey look like he's got a good touch
-
no thanks. he's just a big donkey isn't he? makes crouch looks graceful tbh.

Real will not extend David Beckham's contract
Dr Gloom replied to Ted Maul's topic in Newcastle Forum
no way would i put him in the top 75 greatest players ever like -
not interested unless he can play left back
-
wasn't it his agent that started these rumours? he probably heard how much owen is on

Real will not extend David Beckham's contract
Dr Gloom replied to Ted Maul's topic in Newcastle Forum
i don't think his wages would be too much of a problem for us. owen is on more than he gets at real, shearer is off the wage bill and luque should be soon too. totally not the player we need at the moment though -
may as well bring back griffin and boumsong while we're at it
-
why don't we ever sign decent defenders? ferdinand and hughes ffs?
-
ferdinand = the next titus bramble, blatantly. i don't fancy upson either tbh
-
Do you blame them for nobody wanting to sign him or that they backed the manager with cash to sign him in the first place? i blame them for backing souness. Yet at the time when Shepherd gave Souness money to go on his mad spending spree you were "mindlessly optimistic" and thought he had put a team together good enough to win the league... http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?...=1367&st=20 Perhaps Leazes has a point when he talks about peoples 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' mentality towards Shepherd... "that squad on paper should be challenging for the title". fuck me, i couldn't have called it any worse if i'd tried.
-
swp doesn't fancy a relegation battle apparently. he'd come in a flash to us. shame he doesn't play left back. i reckon we'd be in for him if we didn't already have dyer, milner and nobby that can all play right wing
