The reason the Chronicle gave for him not going to PSV on loan in January was because Roeder couldn't get that striker in from France, they seem to think he's already agreed to there next season though with a view to a permanent deal. i doubt it. he's been pretty reliable in the past and he knows emre and luque well. i can't see luque going anywhere on a permanent deal unless he takes a massive pay cut. that's why he'll probably see his contract out by going on loan instead of securing a permanent deal, unless he proves a few of us wrong and takes a massive pay cut for regular first team football. i can't see it happening. who would give up that kind of money?

shame we can't keep them both. barton, dyer, butt, parker and emre is good competition for the central midfield places. i imagine his wages are too much for him not to be an automatic starter, which to be fair he shouldn't be.

Barring 5 or so games last summer he's played virtually no football for a year and a half. I'm not surprised he's rusty tbh. i'll be (pleasantly) surprised if he recovers to be as effective a player as he was before he did his knee. he looks to have lost a yard of pace to me. i hope for our sake that his restricted movement is just lack of match sharpness.

i watch a fair bit of footie. mostly highlights and live games on sky - not enough to know anywhere near as much about other clubs' players as well as our own. but i think it's pretty easy to tell after a few games if a player has got anything about them or is a total donkey.
