  1. my advice is for you both to grow up and get over it. life's too short to be spent bickering. if you love her (and i'm assuming you do if you were planning on buying a house together) you might just have to bite your tounge and bury the hatchet. i've been with my missus for over ten years, largely i think because we never let rows linger on too long. we shout and scream at each other liek every couple but it's always forgotten the next day. i'd say knowing how to make up is the cornerstone of any successful relationship (along with sexual compatibility). just call me dear deadrie yeah?
  2. So predictable that Craig would be pro Liverpool Where's Renton when you need him? that's a point. where is renton?
  3. I've been more impressed with Viduka personally. I'd play him and Martins at the minute but I'm not quite sure how you can say Martins has been the best by a country mile. He hasn't played enough or been that impressive when he has. i disagree alex and i'll tell you why. i'd say martins has been the pick of the bunch by a long shot. he's looked lively whenever i've seen him play and he's our top scorer despite being overlooked for owen for most games recently. viduka has been injured for most of the season so far (no surprises there) and when he has been fit, he hasn't always looked that up for it (again, no surprises) shola has hardly played and when he has he's been mostly gash (no surprises there either) the less said about smith the better finally, owen has been picked ahead of martins despite not performing at all for us this season. when they're both fit and on song i think owen is better than martins and should start ahead of him but on this season's evidence i think martins should be starting every game. owen has been very poor to be fair.
  4. No it's not. Newcastle has a capacity of 36,500 and that was the attendance every week. Spurs can't fill theirs, you would think a team new to Europe would be able to fill their ground for that too, but no 22,000 against top Spanish opposition the other week, as I've said nothing club, shit fans, supported by a few southerners and a few Irish Robbie Keane arselickers.
  5. so predictable that stevie would be all over this thread
  6. did we really only have one scout under roeder? that defies belief if true. i didn't think even freddie shepherd could be so inept as to not to have some kind of scouting network in place.
  7. i'm sorry like but we don't need to be hearing these kind of excuses. why should we be years behind the big boys when it comes to scouting potential transfer targets?
  8. he should be able to get a bigger club than the blue noses
  9. The book's better (It is btw. I do like the fillum too though). Watched 'A Room for Romeo Brass' last night and I have to say I absolutely loved it. Heard a lot about Shane Meadows' films without having seen one and I'll be checking them all out after this. It's one of those dark, gritty British films that has a good mix of (black) humour and poignant nostalgia which makes you sad and want to laugh at the same time. More than a little bit of Mike Leigh about it too. Which is no bad thing. if you liked that, check out dead man's shoes
  10. i think it's funny that you care.
  11. i think the pianist is the best film about the holocaust to date
  12. Are you off the meds? The ending is perfect. One of the best films ever made tbh. i dunno. i loved the film. it was beautifully paced and creepy in a way modern horror films aren't - mia farrow just seemed to a little too accepting of the endgame to me. i thought she'd put up a little more resistance to assuming her role as mother of satan tbh.
  13. i'd say underachieving given the standard of the team we've played so far (ie none of the 'big 4')
  14. i can't be arsed to use that bbc predict thing but i'd say somewhere between mid-lower table obscurity.
  15. he's been our best striker this season by a country mile. hopefully now sam will be forced to play him for the good of the team.
  16. films i've seen recently: downfall - total class. just a bit gutted i chalked it up on dvd a week before it was on telly. 5/5 rosemary's baby - loved it. creepy and atmospheric throughout although the ending was a bit of a let down. 4/5 kung fu hustle - good cgi and amusing in places but i'd had enough about an hour in. 2/5 miller's crossing - an early-career corker from the cohen brothers. 4/5
  17. i actually quite enjoyed hostel for what it was. a film of two halves. first half - porn, second - slasher/horror.
  18. strange career move for bruce like. i would have thought he could have gotten a better club than wigan.
  19. on paper it looks like it could be a classic. both undefeated. the brawler against the boxer. i can hatton taking him all the way but ultimately mayweather's class should be the difference between the two. i reckon floyd will win on points. although i would love to be proved wrong. hatton is a top boy, mayweather a total arsehole. plus hatton always raises his game against the strongest opponents. they don't come much bigger than this....if hatton wins he'll go down as the best pound for pund fighter in the world and one of britain's all-time greats.
  20. do we need him? we've got taylor, rozenhal, faye, cacapa and beye that can all play at centre back. plus ramage to return from injury if we're desperate. i'd sooner sam looked at some creative forward options as that's where we're painfully short.
  21. agreed. the most misguided signing by far of sam's tenure so far.
  22. we never should have sacked him. we've been on a downward curve ever since. loving this line - He is regarded along with the likes of Alan Bennett and Elton John as "a national treasure," famed for his overwhelming desire to talk football and for storming out of an England press conference and walking straight into a Wembley broom cupboard, but that is to entirely misread the man.
  23. as much as i have me doubts about big sam, getting rid of him now would be total madness and reverting to type after a solid start from ashley & mort.
