  1. parker certainly isn't a goal-scoring midfielder. is barton? Year-----Games------Goals 2006-----33-----------6 2005-----31-----------7 2004-----31 ----------1 2003-----28-----------1 2002------7-----------1
  2. i don't massively rate either barton or parker. i'd say we've probably got the slightly better deal though. what do you reckon?
  3. agreed. he won't hang around for long when he realises he doesn't have a say in how the club is run anymore. unless he fancies being ashley's yes man. it would be best for everyone if he fucked off tbh.
  4. he's got pace to burn. i reckon he'd do a job in the premiership but £9m is pricey for a 30 year old.
  5. Not produced any great performances as of yet, doesn't strike me as a leader of men, has no great loyalty to the club what exactly do you see in Duff? Nobody "secretly" knows he's a talent, we know he had a couple of seasons at blackburn where he looked top dog, but since his Chelsea move he's looked listless and lacking in ideas. Why in Gods name would you bestow captaincy on him? it's akin to giving it to Carr he looked a decent player for chelsea too to be fair. it's only since he's started wearing a newcastle shirt that he's looked complete and utter gash.
  6. could be the next nemanja vidic. that said, he could equally be the next marcelino. unknown quantity-tastic. anyone who's seen much of him care to comment?
  7. solano or given for me. taylor is still a it young and not good enough to start every game guaranteed
  8. solano and dyer to fight it out for the rb position next season?
  9. i'm a bit indifferent to this news tbh. not a bad player but not one to get the pulse racing either. plus he seems like a complete twat off the field. hope he isn't as big a let down as parker turned out to be. english players with big reputations on big wages often are.
  10. god i hope we're not one of them. he's awful.
  11. we're in for a relegation battle if we start next season with that back four
  12. dyer's best asset is his versitility. he'll do a decent job at right back.
  13. allegedly. i suppose as a front three... dyer---viduka----duff isn't that bad on paper. shame duff's been absolute garbage since he joined us.
  14. bit of a livewire. not sure about building a team around him. he always looked better coming off the bench as an impact player
  15. Yeah but you rate shola so you're about as happenin' as a hip replacement. i'm happy with shola as 3rd or 4th choice. i'd be happy with viduka as 3rd or 4th choice but i'm guessing he will be coming in on big wages and will start most games. he's a good player on his day but he's the wrong side of 30, only turns up when he fancies it and is always injured.....so he should fit in well with the rest of our squad. oh and he's fat. and australian. Seeing we will be probably playing three strikers next season, he could be third choice. And if that's the case I'd still be happy to see donkey nowhere near the team bus. you reckon big sam will use his bolton-style 4-3-3 formation? owen must be going if he does. i can't see him working as a lone striker or out wide in a front three. so as it stands we're looking at a three-pronged attack of shola, martins and viduka

  17. i'm not massively convinced by viduka and barton as our first signings under big sam

Even when first and second (and third) pick up injuries? Then is he still good enough as 4th choice, when circumstances mean we're relying on him for goals? Care to name a poorer 4th choice in the top 4, seeing as that's where we aim to be? i'd say he's on par with the likes of alan smith, aliadiere, baptista, kalou, robbie fowler etc Fuck off i don't see many of that lot outscoring shola by many. do you? shola was scoring goals at a decent rate before his op, carrying an injury and playing in a shit side. he's not the best player in the world but i'd be as happy with him coming off the bench as any of the others listed above.

shola isn't as bad as some make out. i'm happy with him as third or fourth choice striker
  21. did a job but ultimately not good enough.
  22. i doubt it. but regardless, he definitely is on that money. that's why he isn't going anywhere He'd be over the £100k pw mark though, which I just can't see us offering him. i'm not lying. i know someone that has seen his pay slip, and driven his car. Who trusts a car thief though... luque was in the passenger seat at the time seriously... i don't claim to be in the know about much when it comes to toon gen but this source is pretty kosher
