  1. so what's your solution? btw - i moan because there are things to moan about, not for the sake of it. i didn't moan about sir bobby when he was in charge because we had a world class manager who put an exciting team together that challenged the top 4. but i don't see there being too much positive about sacking the manager half way into his first season if we appoint him one of the current favourites for the job.

    Hughes?

he'd be a sideways step. plus there's the compensation to play out
  3. nice dodge Quite. I've bascially said that he'd done some things that I couldn't understand - formations, selections, tactics; that he hadn't had enough time (no manager would have had enough time, even though some might have done better so far) but that if the right man were available I'd be happy for us to go for it. Cop-out caveats if you like. Everything you write is unconstructive criticism though as though that's difficult to do. You never offer a single solution to anything back. why is it my job to offer a solution? this is a message board - not pmqs. it's up to ashley and mort to sort this out. i'm actually surprised that the majority of people on here have accused me of moaning for the sake of it. i think there's a genuine cause for concern here. fair play to ashley/mort if the do have a quality replacement lined up but the rumour mill doesn't suggest they have so far. i can't see i'd be over the moon if they appointed any of the current favourites linked with the job.
  4. I think you have nailed it. Good sense, as per from HF. How come the dumb fucking aussie gets slated for saying have some faith in Mort and Ashley and HF, the fucking film critic (by the way HF I'll be sending my rockumentary to you and I want a good review ok?) gets pats on the back and cheers of support! Fucking empire my arse. Come on Samwise, we're in this together now. True, remember I did welcome you back to the fold and I promise I won't sue over your plagiarism. Dan, chill out mate. After the last what 3 and a half seasons of shite lets try to be enthused. Now Allardyce has gone and he was shite and taking the club nowhere, everything that was Shepherd's legacy has been removed from the club. Once we sell Barton, bring in a decent manager, sign a few players that will fulfill our needs the world will be a better place. I don't mean to be harsh but you need to see the light. can you see the light?
  5. maybe if we all close our eyes, hold hands and think positive, all of our dreams will come true!!!!
  6. i'd be interested to hear alex's thoughts on all this as he seems to have dodged all the questions put to him so far in this thread and yet i seem to remember him saying he thought sam should be given more than half a season too
  7. you reckon he's got the 'world class manager' lined up that happy face is prediciting then? if he has, fair play to him and i'll admit i'm wrong. i'm suprised no one else shares my conceren tbh. what top manager is going to fancy a job that's average term over the past decade has been just over a year? No you won't you'll go all fop, LM and stevie when the time comes. you're getting tiresome now. please go away
  8. why don't you do youself a favour and fuck off and reply in someone else's thread No you big girls blouse, it's my board too yup, and it's your call if you want to continue wasting your time by reading and replying to someone whose opinion is of so little importance to fellow toon supporters

  11. if you're right, then i would have to agree. but we'll have to wait to see who he does have lined up - my concern is that he has gone down the same route as shepherd and pandered to the frenzy that's been whipped up without lining up a top quality replacement. like, i said though, i'll be happy to eart my words if i'm wrong and a top mananager is on his way.
  12. do you think he's made the right decision? i always thought you were up for giving him more time too. if we appoint one the early favourites i would have to say no. i have been as miffed by some of sam's decisions this year as everyone else, but i've always said that he should be given more time. the fact that we are a viewed as a joke of a club will almost certainly have implications as to who we are able to recruit as next manager. of course, i will eat my words if ashley's got a top manager lined up and we don't end up with someone like redknapp. Dan just shut the fuck up.

  14. hope you're right like. can't see why someone like mourinho would fancy it though
  15. i thought the managerial merry go round ended with the last buffoon of a chairman. sacking big sam half a season into the job, standing with the away support and wearing his toon top at every game....our new chairman is looking every bit as much as a laughing stock as shepherd was. the only reason i could give for sacking a manager so early into his tenure is if we're in a relegation battle - we're not. we're actually still better off points-wise than we were this time last season. despite the dross served up recently, i feel sam should have been given much more time. talk of shearer and redknapp is depressing but predicitable - who else is going to fancy a crack at the poisoned challice? unless ashley can pull off a coup and bring in someone like mourinho or lippi (which i highly doubt), then i think he's got it wrong. all the other managers linked so far would be a sideways step. and his timing is also shepherd-esque. half way into the transfer window so if we do get a new man in before it closes, he'll have little to no chance of bringing in any new players. the rest of the country is laughing at us. pathetic
  16. my missus made me watch that. absolutely fucking dire. they don't make romcoms like they used to. not my favourite genre by a long stretch but i can't remember enjoying one since when harry met sally.
  17. frustrating talent but he had magic in his boots, unlike most of our current squad.
  18. romario isn't a bad shout actually. he was on top of his game during the same period as shearer (93-96), while ronaldo didn't emerge until a few years later. here's a shearer stat. in three seasons, he scored 96 goals in 117 games for blackburn
  19. Better than Ronaldo? Other than that, you're right. oooh - a tough call. for skills obviously not. in terms of his threat as an out and out goal scorer, possibly. he scored over 30 league goals three times in the premiership for blackburn. that's unheard of these days. the shearer that had the legs to beat his man and work the chanels was the best english striker of his generation. shame he had to adapt his game after he signed for us because of all the injuries. owen will do well to adapt his game anywhere near as well if the injuries take their toil i actually wonder whether capello will look at other options up front now. it's still early days but it doesn't look too promising for owen. i doubt he'll ever lose his finishing or his movement but you've got to wonder whether the knee injury will mean he has to radically change his game. he'd already lost a bit of pace before he signed for us but he seems pedestrian now.
  20. it's fucking typical that owen has the injury that could potentially mean he's never the same player again after he signs for us in a club record deal. not unlike shearer tbh. despite all the goals, shearer was never the same player was for us that he was for blackburn. before his injuries at blackburn he was the best striker in the world.
  21. presume the reason smith didn't make the list is that it's widely agreed by all now that he's rubbish. otherwise he would have been my choice
  22. it wouldn't, but barton could do with a stint on the naughty chair.
  23. i thought he was a useful player but he seems to have turned a bit shite the last season or two. should fit in well with our lot then
  24. just as i thought. apart from a red hot season at bournemouth, not that impressive: West Ham United (1999–2004) 93 games, 29 goals Bournemouth (loan) (2000-2001) 29 games 18 goals Tottenham Hotspur (2004–present) 136 games, 42 goals
