  1. funny & offensive. doubt they'd get away with it these days
  2. i couldnt work the booing out but it sounded like big sam was booed for taking martins off (i can't understand why martins would be booed) and then owen was cheered as he came on. there's no way either player was booed
  3. i agree. it's his lack of pace combined with poor final ball that lets him down out wide. he might do a better job through the middle but i'd be looking for new right winger in the january sales if i was big sam. beckham on loan anyone?
  4. Concurred. I'm beginning to wonder whether both he and Barton may work in the centre together. Geremi needs to be pushed out on the right (Milner's lack of pace is beginning to get on my nerves) and Butt should be dropped. geremi's no express train tbh. although i imagine his delivery from out wide is better than milner's.
  5. Deffo, thats what I've been thinking. I reckon he's been getting a good look at Harper and has realised there's not much between them so if a big money offer came in for Given he'd let him go. Maybe he sees him as to small for a keeper i think given is streets ahead personally. although fair play to harper, he did do well recently and was unlucky not to keep his place. it's not that he played bad, just that given is rightly our number one.
  6. agree. first one was watchable the second was dire. saw III is supposed to be better, apparantly they're making a 4th too...
  7. control. i enjoyed it but it was a pretty depressing way to round off the weekend. kind of like 24 hour party people but without the laughs. curtis portrayed as more of a cnut too (probably because the script was based on his wife's book.)
  8. FYP well done matt. do you carry your teacher's bags for her too?
  9. they can have him for cash plus lennon
  10. smith looks twice the player up front than he does in midfield. much more like it from him. emre injected some creativity into central midfield, took his goal well and should start the next game alongside either butt or geremi. n'zogbia and enrique looked an encouraging prospect as a pair down our left flank. nice to see we've got options in central defence too with faye looking assured. i'd actually have taylor as our 4th choice centre half on this season's form. good performance after the city debacle and result going into the international break.
  11. Strangely missing our best player out of that team not that suited to a 4-3-3 though is he? Neither are Viduka or Martins imo. i agree about viduka but i think martins can do a decent job out wide in a 4-3-3. it looks like sam will stick with 4-3-3 while owen is out. i think that lineup above could be the most effective use of the formation with the players at our disposal. Is Owen not due back before Duff? your guess is as good as mine. i don't think we can plan the way we play around owen though until he puts in more than two games in a row before breaking down injured again. Surely the same applies to Duff though. of course, but there are other players who can play wide left in a 4-3-3, n'zogbia and milner for example. mr contrary.

  14. class on his day but he's definitely overrated by the english press because he's english. his technical ability is nowhere near the likes of kaka, messi or ronaldinho.
  15. to be fair though craig, only owen has impressed in a toon shirt out of that lot - and he's only managed about 20 games for us in 2 years.

  17. the whiskey on its own will help you pass out but the honey will help a sore throat and the lemon juice will give you a dose of vitamin c. I knew that needed a wink. You Irish btw? nah

  19. not a cure but a hot toddy is good for getting to sleep when your bunged up. directions: Add two parts hot water to 1 part whiskey or bourbon. add a teaspoon of honey plus the juice of half a lemon. drink. make another one. drink. pass out under duvet in front of the telly
  20. Aye, he probably fancies starting Barton and Enrique at some point too. Had that crossed your mind? not too sure what his thinking with enrique is tbh. he looked fit and pretty lively to me the other week and yet it seems sam would sooner play zog at left back instead of reverting to 4-3-3 and that dynamic central midfield threesome.
  21. depends entirely on what you're using the bread for. i'd say baguettes and toasted ciabatta are best for luxury sandwiches. or stottie for an old school filling like egg mayo or cheese savoury wholmeal sliced for every day toast and marmite or cheap and chewy mothers pride white sliced for a fry up.
