Newcastle stars head to city to watch boxing
Dr Gloom replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
yup. move along people. nothing to see in this thread -
agreed. it's the lack of quality in midfield, and the right wing specifically, that has to be addressed. surely a combination of enrique, zoggy and cacapa at left back is enough? Cacapa? Really? he's a lefty and has played at left back before

Owen fit for derby.....Should Oba be benched????
Dr Gloom replied to Sensiemella101's topic in Newcastle Forum
no. oba shouldn't be dropped. if owen goes straight back into the side it should be for smith or geremi -
i think he'll take the money and fight de la hoya next year at wembley. it wouldn't be the smartest move for him as a boxer as he's proven in his two fights at 147 lb that he's not a welterweight but can you imagine him being arsed about unifying the light welter division against the current champions at that weight? only witter would offer a half decent payday out of that lot and even then, it's not going to be in the same league as oscar. If its money than the De La Hoya fight would be the one to go for, although I think he'd probably lose that one too, De La Hoya is too big, he's been up as far as middleweight, and I wouldn't touch Witter with a barge pole he's far too slippery and could make Hatton look like a right idiot. i reckon hatton would drop witter personally. he's all mouth - who's he actually beaten?
-
now this is exactly the sort of player we should be in for. i don't see it happening though. he doesn't strike me as big sam's type of player

Especially when he has just splashed £6m on one and is playing a left winger there.... i don't understand why he isn't playing enrique there more often. he's looked decent so far to me, while zoggy looks a far better bet further forward on the left wing - especially ahead of milner, who should be starting on the right ahead of the likes of geremi and smith.

i'm still absolutely gutted for hatton like. i don't think i've ever been so bothered about a british boxer losing a fight before. it's probably because he's blatantly just such a good lad and he was outclassed and knocked on his arse with the whole world watching. like everyone else, i got caught up in the hopeless optimism and actually thought he had a decent chance of winning on the night. i've been much more down about hatton losing than the england football team not qualifying for the euros. obviously that won't be the case next summer when we're twiddling our thumbs, but it's hard to give a shit about overrated and unlikable twats like lampard, ferdinand et al getting what they deserve than a top boy like hatton losing out. ricky's blantantly the people's champion. the supprt for him in vegas was different class, although the booing of the us national anthem was absolutely childish. when are these cretins going to give it a rest? it's bad enough doing it at wembley for the football but doing it on foreign soil is beyond a joke.

aye. vitamin c is the daddy when it comes to keeping the lurgy at bay. but you're probably best off just eating a couple of oranges a day and drinking plenty of fresh orange juice

i can't see why a new left back should be a priority. it's midfield that needs sorting

legend. sadly it looks like his time is almost up. no one can survive cancer that many times. it'll always get you in the end

the whole positive discrimination thing only works if the person can do the job in the first place. crooks is an awful pundit. that lass commentator is beyond shite. you don't deserve to be given a high profile job that many others could do far better just because you're black or a woman. fuck me, i sound like a daily mail reader. it's pc GONE MAD
-
and fuck me, what's that female commentator all about? she sounds like a 9 year old boy
-
how did this joker ever get a job as a pundit? absolutely shocking

hatton was outclassed on the night. out thought and out boxed. fair play to him though; he put in a good shift against the best fighter in the world at the moment and he took some heavy shots before he finally went down. his defence let him down mind and he walked on to far too many shots but the ref didn't do him any favours. he could have been a bit more gracious in defeat too - mayweather didn't come across as such a prick in the post fight interview and he sounded to me like he was hinting at the possibility of a rematch. hatton needs it like a hole in the head if you ask me. he should go back down a a weight.
