  1. i would love it....love it if we beat them
  2. why on earth would owen sign a new contract? i wouldn't blame him for walking. in fact, if i were him i'd probably jump ship too. he'll probably get a move somewhere like villa, spurs or everton. i can't see any of the top 4 going for him. it's just a question of whether he'll take a cut in wages to join one of that lot.
  3. i think it was a crazy decision personally. said so at the time and stick by it. we've never been the same since he was booted out. in fact, following the club has been pretty miserable ever since the sbr days
  4. Sad thing is, the press at the time wanted rid of him - they reckoned he was absolute shite and started a witch-hunt in the run up to Italia 90 IIRC. Graham Taylor was such a 'more attractive prospect' in their eyes Same fucking scum who have since have reported that he was the best manager this country has seen since Ramsey and that a knighthood is 'long overdue'. even more of a tragedy was all the fact that a majority of toon fans forced him out of nufc when he was doing a grand job. we've never recovered from fat fred sacking sir bobby - we've been a downward spiral ever since he left.
  5. how good would a 12th place finish be at this stage? you'd take it with bells on tbf. anything for a nice boring mid table finish
  6. I actually think that might just be enough. It'll be fucking tight like. as tight as a nun's cunt tbf
  7. ashley would be a total moron not to give jfk a decent wedge to spend in the january sales like. he's not going to get much return on his investment if he ends up trying to flog a championship club. i would like to see no players sold and at least three new ones bought in.
  8. we're the draw specialists like. if we keep this ratio up we'll finish with 38 points, probably not enough to stay up his year
  9. that's what i thought about our recent run of games. that's why i'm worried. we should have picked up a least a couple more wins than we have done over the recent run of games. to be fair, if we can't dispatch the likes of stoke and wigan at home, i'm not sure we are good enough to stay up
  10. that's always been the case in recent years. this year, i'm not so sure
  11. i live in london. all my mates down here, who don't have the misfortune of having to watch us every week, keep telling me stuff like: "you'll be alright. you're too good to go down." "any team with owen, martins and viduka will be alright" "there are worse sides in the division than you" i used to agree. on paper, it's hard to fathom why we quite so crap. i never expected us to have a good season but i always thought we had a bit too much class to be quite so in the shit. but in reality we can't beat stoke, wigan or hull at home and the home ties are not going to get any easier. i thought we were too good to go down but it's starting to look like we're not good enough to stay up.
  12. i'd forgive him if he started doing his job seriously. ie get rid if wise and don't appoint another director of football. give kinnear enough money to spend in january and stop flogging decent players like milner and replacing them with donkeys like xisco. i think the majority of us would forgive him too. no one expects us to be world beaters, but the only way we're going to improve is by keeping our better players and only selling players we can replace with them with better quality.
  13. yup. when i signed up to them i said i only wanted it for a month (which i thought was the minimum subscription), so i could watch the calzaghe fight. they basically said fine. then when i came to cancel, they said they needed 30 days notice so i ended up paying for two months. there was no mention of this by the salesman when i paid up - if there was i would have had to cancel on the same day as subscribing. be warned
  14. young, pacey and left footed...those sorts of players grow on trees so it'll ne no big loss
  15. for a stag, it's probably got to the classic cheesy pub crawl taking in the quayside and the bigg market ending up in idols, or whatever it's called these days, for some jack the rippers
  16. i wouldn't be at all surprised if we do go down. we're a rudderless ship and our performances so far don't suggest we're too good to go down the main worry is the thing that in other seasons, there's always been at least one or two clubs that looked certainties to go down by this stage of the season - it's wide open this year and there are three places up for grabns instead of one or two. the fact that wen't winning the home bankers like wigan and hull is a concern too
  17. er, but the rest of us lose too, which isn't nice
  18. it's hard to believe just how consistently crap we've become since then
  19. i still think we're short of a top class left back and i'm happy with beye and collocini. basong looks decent and probably deserves a chance ahead of taylor. taylor's a funny one, on his day looks top class but a little too eratic for me.
  20. fuck me, steve bruce? has it really come to that? assuming we get a new owner in with a bit of cash, i'd give the job to a foreign coach with a bit of nous who might attract a decent player. someone like sven, deschamps, hiddink, rijkard etc. i can't see any english coaches out there that are good enough
