  1. enrique definitely. hope he can carry this season's form on in the top flight
  2. Assuming Steven Taylor leaves in the summer (nailed on if you ask me) say we brought Titus back....do you think it would be a backwards step?....he's been a first choice premier league centre back for 10 years and 5 different manangers, he must have something going for him?..... i'd say re-signing bramble would definitely be a backwards step. i must admit i haven't been an avid wigan-watcher in recent years but i'd be surprised if he'd been able to eradicate the mistakes from his game that made him a liability while he was with us. despite the raw attributes of pace and strength, he didn't have the concentration or brain not to make regular fuck ups that almost always contributed to us conceding goals. i'd rather use williamson, collocini and taylor before buying bramble back. same goes for o'brien to be fair. me saying bramble made o'brien look good wasn't me saying o'brien was a good defender btw alex - you seemed to miss that first time around.
  3. Like most fans slagged Robson when we came 5th you mean? Same thing tbh. not everyone slagged sbr off. i don't remember too many bramble/o'brien apologists You miss the point again tbh. Forget it. what is your point? as far as i can see, it was that bramble had some good attributes and wasn't the total donkey i'm making him out to be. stop if me i'm wrong like

  5. the sbr years were class. i've got massive respect for the man. the way he was sacked was a disgrace. he did have a couple of howlers in the transfer market mind - the main ones for me were bramble and carl cort. both arrived for around 6-7m and we were glad to see the back of both of them. andy o'brien was cheaper than bramble so arguably not as big a flop - didn't arrive with expectations that he'd be anything other than an average centre half so wasn't as big a let down. but to be fair alex, everyone on this board slagged both bramble and o'brien off regularly when they were at the club.
  6. he's got the pace you need at least one of your front man to have in the top flight and seems to have improved the past couple of seasons. my west ham-supporting mate rates him highly. i doubt many top sides in the premier league will be in for him but we're unlikely to attract much better quality than him in our first season back. would be a good fit if we can ditch best
  7. Did he fuck man And in terms of talent I meant he had the attributes - pace, power, strength etc. Obviously I've mentioned what let him down. he had attributes but droppped a bollock every other game because his brain hurt so much. He was better than O'Brien though. Unbelievable to suggest otherwise tbh. they were both garbage to be fair Keep changing your tune there Dan and you might hit the right note eventually. yeah, sorry you're right. both top class defenders. wish we never got rid of them
  8. what happened with jonas last night btw?
  9. carlton cole would be a good shout if we swap places with west ham
  10. one thing's for sure. nolan/carrol up top will be way too pedestrian for most premier league defences.

  13. did bramble really look talented? he made andy o'brien look a solid centre half to be fair. i think the problem with bramble is that he's thick as two short planks. not only does he not have a football brain, he doesn't have much of a normal brain either. too thick to make basic decisions on the field.
  14. who woudn't be on the pitch if they were there? i would. not sure i'd run around with my top off in front of the cameras if i had moobs like some of those lads mind
  15. we shouldn't have got rid of n'zogbia when we did. another contributing factor to our relegation. we are well shot of bramble mind. i'd rather play any of our centre backs ahead of that donkey.
  16. worrying noises coming there like. similar to that stuff about us not needing to invest much that came out recently. hopefully a smokescreen
  17. the one that was giving me the hardest time about it is a liverpool fan. guess where he comes from?.....stroud in the west country. typical glory supporting kid of the 80s. the other two are palace and west ham
  18. i had this conversation with my southern mates at the weekend insisting that there shouldn't be one. i was mocked for being the typical newcastle fan, never happy with what we've got, always moaning and unable to enjoy some success when it finally comes our way. i argued a bus parade would be wrong because this isn't a major achievement, more a case of righting a wrong. last time we were promoted we came from nothing and deserved the parade. this time we never should have gone down in the first place - the only rason we did was because of poor decisions by ashley. they argued that the players and manager, if not the owner, deserve a parade this time. what do you lot reckon? in reality, i'm sure thousands would turn out if there was one
  19. it's a democracy man. if you want to talk about rogue states, you should start first with iran
  20. i'm quietly confident that routledge and jonas will do a job in the premiership. both have ability, pace and a point to prove after previous failures. i like that we're playing with two genuine wingers again now and that the defence seems solid. creativity and steel in centre mid, a decent striker and a right back should be the priorities in the summer transfer window.
  21. best was a bit of a panic buy wasn't it to be fair to chris. we needed a striker urgently as he didn't get beckford. didn't someone else turn us down too at the last minute before the window shut? can't remember, i might be wrong there but it was best blatantly wasn't his first choice. agree that he shouldn't have been given a 3 year deal mind. would have been a half decent loan signing but we'll have trouble shifting him now.
  22. no chance he never managed many goals in the first place, his best return on a season was 11 in 33 exactly. he's a centre forward that doesn't score goals or a centre midfielder that can't tackle, dribble or pass the ball forward. plus he's on a massive bunce. get rid, but only after we're shot of barton
