  1. i don't care what we pay him. he's our best striker by a mile so get him signed
  2. mccarthy would be a good buy for them like
  3. He grafts as well though. Great to have an attacking winger but if he's a passenger when you lose possession it puts pressure on your full-back. Not with this fella though. It was great to see him track back at every opportunity, but his attacking qualities will turn out to be more important. We've had plenty of grafters over the last few years, it's pace and creativity that we've been missing. Calmly ran back a couple of times and just took the ball off their players (Rooney didn't look happy). aye. that was class.
  4. oh yeh. the eyesight must be gannin in me old age
  5. aye. he's still a bit young - might be worth tapping up on a youth contract though
  6. what's wrong with that? given, jonas and half the chelsea team? sounds about right to me. ....but crooks is the worst example of positive discrimination ever - he's the master of the non-question. "so michael, you scored the winning goal in the 60th minute...." you have to laugh at his boat race too
  7. Hea hea! Yesterday was my 1st away game and i was amazed at how many fans were somewhat negative before the match, me as always was optimistic of a good performance from the boys and hopeful of a good result! And my faith paid off! Yesterday we showed real promising signs that we are a team, a unit, we are united, in the words of ince at weekend, we showed comradery and spirit and looked very solid at the back (apart from LB) and very slick going forward. We passed the ball well, tracked back and harried well, and on the whole we held our own with the best team in england! If we can take that sort of performance, add a few necessary signings we can all be hopefull of a rather pleasing season indeed. Well done lads... "Ee-Aye Ee-Aye Ee-Aye Oh, Up the premier league we go, when we get to europe, this is what we'll sing, we are geordies, super geaordies...KEEGAN IS OUR KING!" ah, the wonder of youth lol my youths fading quickly with every pint haha How old do you think i am like...im no bairn bud! old man leazesmag makes us all look like whippersnappers tbh
  8. kiss spidey all week! :icon_lol: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas: :jonas:
  9. is also never going to happen
  10. got to love keegan. he would indeed be nice for starters. if we can somehow chalk up saviola, ashton, tiago and warnock, we're looking at a pretty decent squad all of a sudden.
  11. Trying to rein it in because I don't want to get too carried away but aye, I am too. Me as well but the signs are promising, especially if we bring some more players in. agree. i'm excited by the new players but feel we still need to add more players of a smilar quality. like someone else said above, a few injuries and we could struggle. fair play to keegan though for only buying what look on first impressions like quality players instead of panic buying the usual sort of player we attract just to make up the numbers.
  12. the new signings all impressed yesterday but i still think we're a good few players short of being able to compete at the business end of the table. encouraging stuff though - nice to see the keegler with a spring in his step too
  13. Jonas deserves all his plaudits today, but I thought Guthrie was class, didn't put a foot wrong. aye. credit to keegan for throwing them all in at the deep end. the signing of guthrie didn't get me that excited at first but he looked neat and tidy today. hopefully more of the same to come from the young lad
  14. great result and performance. new signings all looked good, especially spiderman.
  15. at least we're getting the trips to old trafford and the emirates out of the way early doors, when we traditionally do poorly. i'd rather get these two defeats out of the way early on while we're struggling to get out of the traps then start our charge up the table in september. there's your straws....clutching at them.
  16. shame. i rate him more than cacapa and taylor. keepgan obvioulsy doesn't see him ahead of the likes of those two plus the new argie bargie in the centre half pecking order. i hope this means we're getting a couple of new faces in before the window shuts. 3 first team centre halfs and 4 strikers isn't really going to be enough, plus there's the lack of talent in central midfield that needs to be addressed I don't think it's a case of Keegan not seeing him ahead of those two, it's just if he's got his heart set on moving then there's no point in keeping an unhappy player, I thought he was our best centre back last year but he's not someone who we should struggle to replace IMO. He does say he will replace them if they do go too tbf. why would he have his heart set on a move to stoke? bizarre. i reckon it was more a case of keegan not fancying him
  17. shame. i rate him more than cacapa and taylor. keepgan obvioulsy doesn't see him ahead of the likes of those two plus the new argie bargie in the centre half pecking order. i hope this means we're getting a couple of new faces in before the window shuts. 3 first team centre halfs and 4 strikers isn't really going to be enough, plus there's the lack of talent in central midfield that needs to be addressed
  18. he'll have to shift a few pounds if wants to play again like
  19. agreed. ashton and tiago of the players linked would be canny
  20. I reckon he's another Carlos Puyol, actually shite, but afforded hero status because of the unruly barnet. Puyol shite? I hope that's tongue-in-cheek. He's certainly overrated. He's like an iconic Catalan figure at the back, hard, generally solid, but his flaws are completely ignored and there's no way he merits some of the awards he's attained. Someone like Daniel van Buyten is a better defender than him, but because the spotlight he plays in isn't as bright he isn't recognised like Puyol is. fuck off man
  21. hurrah. not a moment too soon either. no news of jonas in that though is there? all we need now is to sign a new midfielder and a striker before the man u game and it will be a perfect end to what was looking like a sticky end to the week.
  22. not sure mate. i'd take him in a flash but can't see it happening if the rest of our transfer window is anything to go by. do you reckon your close season has been as awful as ours. oh, and ps - would you be gutted to see him leave?
