6 points might be enough but we'll be relying on other teams' doing us a favour on the last day of the season. 9 points will almost certainly secure our survival. the problem is that after last night's no-show, i can't see us winning any of our remaining fixtures except perhaps boro. my most optimistic forecast for our remaimg games would be: lose to liverpool, beat boro and draws to fulham and villa. that would put us on 35 points, almost certain to be too few to survive. west ham went down on 41 points a few season ago
-
we're gone now. can't see us getting the 9 points or 10 points we to survive need now from the next few fixtures. last night was last chance saloon and we bottled it.

i think i speak for everyone when i say.... COME ON NEWCASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shearer shows every day is fools day at Newcastle

it's a blog man. it's designed to wind people up and get people talking -
i've never spent a season looking for other teams' results so much. i can't believe we're not in the bottom three. we've been that bad, it's hard to fathomthat there are at least 3 teams worse than us. hopefully that will still be the case come the end of may
-
a good point, well made
-
a massive two points dropped with huge implications for our survival chances when you look at our remaining fixtures. tbh, we don't deserve to stay up if we can only take one point off hull over two games
-
-
because we're both as crap as each other, both should be doing much better than we are and both sets of fans have ideas above their stations
-
yup. i'm already fearing the worst but if we lose this one i think we're effectively gone.
-
hull and stoke are the big ones like. if we don't get six points from those 2 games i think we deserve to go down when you consider they both took points off us at home. bolton was a big chance to takwe the pressure off before this run of games. man u and chelsea are write-offs. i think 7 points would be a good return from this run. any less than that and it's going to be a horrible end to the season
-
moyes had a couple of crap seasons at the start of his tenure but the everton board didn't panic and gave him time. the difference bwtweem us and them is stability. in theory we should be higher up the table when you look at the money and fan base of the two clubs but we've had about 7 managers in the time moyes has been there which speaks volumes
-
you're just guessing now
-
i wouldn't mind el tel until the end of the year like. beyond that, i'd look to get a continental coach with a reputation for attracting quality players like sven. i think he'd do a job for us, but he'd want a top wage and backing so probably a non-starter
-
"Whatever players the manager has asked for, he’s had." they've all got to go if that's the case
-
wouldn't be my first choice but is he worse than smith, shola or viduka? probably not tbh. could be a good option if we're playing championship football next season
-
i think they'll finish above us. we've more chance of going down
-
nice. where's danny b these days?
-
old fart tbh
-
have they been that lucky? i think playing breakway football with pacey front men could be thw way forward for the majority of midtable teams who want to break into the top 4. not many teams are going to out-pass the likes of man u or arsenal so why not go down the more direct/organised approach. pacey front men up top will scare teams bigger clubs as long as you're organised in defence and midfield.
-
i wonder if their fans will get a hammering from the national press for beinf fickle. hope so

fair play to what martin o'neil is doing at villa. great job and they've got a real chance of playing champions league football next year. but if you watch them play, they're not the greatest footballing side by a long shot. they're organised at the back, compact and they've got pace to burn on the counter. every time i've seen them play this season, they only have about 40 odd per cent possesion but they're winning games. we could learn a thing or two from villa. as long as we've got the likes of barton/butt/nolan in the engine room, we're not going to play much football. so i say sign a couple of pacey front men in the summer and play on the counter. we've got to be the slowest side in the league at the moment...
