great pins for an old bird mind

quality thread this one, i must have missed it first time around. made me lol on more than one occasion. some old names from the past - what ever happened to shearergol and swindonmag? do they still post under different usernames? back on topic, here's my contribution...for the fans of this emerdale milf:

yeah, world cup finals are usually dull, cagey affairs. hopefully this one will buck the trend.
-
i will hold off my prediction until the transfer window shuts. there's time for us to add players needed to finish lower mid table. as things stand we're probably looking at somewhere in the bottom four or five.
-
i'm glad to see spain in the final rather than the krauts, they were by far the better footballing side. plus you've got arguably the two best teams never to have won a world cup between them fighting it out. nice to see a new country will be adding a star to its kit rather than germany getting another.

Say absolutely nee more about you like. Say nee more. you not got any mackem friends like stevie? you should give them a chance, they're not nazis
-
some of my oldest and best mates are mackems so i have to disagree with stevie's sweeping generalisation about those from the 'wrong side of the river'

promising young player. wouldn't be a bad signing

Welcome To Glasgow - Advice On Your Visit To Glasgow

is that when the hoy brown sauce mixed up with vinegar all over your chips? a most unpleasant surprise that like -
Look at me look at me I'm here. Fuck off you foreign cunt. Stick to hunting seals. I'm Australian not Alaskan you clown. The culture differences between an Aussie and an eskimo are significant so at least attempt to make the gibes relevant. Look, I may have been harsh in my post about why England do not deserve to host the WC and I'll admit to my inaccuracies... at least I'm man enough to admit them. So I'll admit I was harsh about the English weather as it isn't all that bad in June/July is it? Stick to battering Lebonese then you cunt. We could wipe you out with the press of a button you mouthy convict.

well, i watched it in a bar in mallorca full of dutch fans so perhaps got caught up in the boozy atmosphere. i was on the edge of my seat in the second half - haven't been able to say that too often during this world cup.
-
that was a cracking game like. open, attacking football. great goals. there haven't been enough like it at this world cup
-
No one's excited now I know what you mean though. Daft thing is, he'll probably pick Celtic anyway. the other sad thing is he'd probably walk into our starting eleven
-
sad that it's come to this. the majority of the board pleased to see us linked with a player we wouldn't have got at all excited about a few years back.

adventureland. good fun, teen flick. does what it says on the tin. leading girl quite a hottie. not a bad one to watch with the mrs - 6/10 mine on wire - engaging feature length documentary about a french nutcase that broke into the world trade centre and did a tightrope walk between the two towers - 7/10 -
Exactly. Deluded happy optimisim is a better frame of mind to be in than defeatist methodical realism. ok, fair play, i'll give you that

Fiar enough, thats never going to happen if you always predict failure though. Thats the safest seat in the house. Where England are concerned it is. Dan picked the Krauts though tbf. Lucky guess and fuck all to do with watching or even understanding their football or style of play in the last 12 months. Not even the Germans picked the Germans. my prediction was based more on their mentality. the germans players play with the natural confidence the english lack, built on decades of success as opposed to decades of underachievement and the expectations built up by a fenzied media hype. their players (even when not fancied to do well) always have the belief they will progress and do well in the tournament. they almost always play as a collective unit. england play as a bunch of individuals with fear and the weight of years of collective failures on their shoulders. i thought capello might be the man to address this but sadly he was found lacking too.

re-read the the thread and you'll find a post from me predicting another england failure and stevie replying by saying, i quote, "fuck off you miserable cunt" Nah, am not re=reading anything, what round did you predict? don't think i predicted a round but i did forecast that we'd get knocked out on pens; we weren't even good enough for that though this time, sadly. i thought at best we'd get to the quarters. never thought we were genuine contenders. stevie's predictions for england as well as him insisting that we'd slaughter the germans if we met them were ridiculous and deserved to be ridiculed. ultimately, i think our abject humiliation at this world cup might be a good thing for the long term outlook. this set of players was never going to win it this time around and being knocked down to earth could hopefully reduce some of the national expectation and pressure on the players next time round. no doubt i'll be wrong mind and the usual hype about us being one of the favourites to win it will be all over the red tops again in four years time.

surprised at how few have said shearer or rob lee

Do you want a medal? Why have you got an irrational dislike of capital letters? yes please, a nice shiny gold medal with 'dan is always right' engraved on it would be super. seriously though, until they start consistently under-achieving (like england) instead of regularly over-achieving, the germans always have to be among the favourites. they're never far off. i don't dislike capital letters, it's just quicker to type without them and i'm lazy
-
wtf is that shit?
-
stevie's blind optimism regarding england was laughable. it was obvious that we wouldn't better previous performances. got to say though that i was surprised at just how shit we were. funny looking back in this thread that i was one of the few to tip the germans. no one ever fancies them before the tournament starts but they always have to be among the favourites because they almost always make at least the semis. even when they look ordinary, they've got the belief and the winning mentality that the likes of england lack.
