well for me we did a whole lot of hoofing yesterday. Does it count as a long ball if its a high ball into the box from 20 yards, we did that all afternoon yesterday.

No way I'd back letting him go , unless he lets himself go too much in the next few months. He's clearly put weight on, and Pardew's critiscm of his return to fitness may be a thinly veiled order to cut down on the pork life. Can't understand some of the Carrol comments though, especially that he's 3rd choice at best. I'd pick him over Gouffran or Sissoko or Ben Arfa as CF - which is what Pardews been playing this year. Sissoko alongside Cisse just isn't fair on a new arrival , sure be adaptable but give the guy chance to settle into the premiership before changing his role game on game. Carrol would make the first team for me, Shola, Gouffran (as a CF) and the young lad are no competition IMO. Oh and he's a Geordie.

Too early to judge , hes only been here 3 months . I reckon he's going to be a force to be reckoned with - but gawd he needs a team with a bit of creativity round him.- 1745 replies

Yohan Kebab,Depression & The Taxman(with chilli and garlic)

I like to think its his illness thats made his form dip, rather than vice-versa. He's had a longish term injury too. I'd rather see Staylor as skipper tho, tbh. -
Gutted - I want to know why we seem to be playing this long ball hoofing crap - and still using Shola. We deserved to be beat with that performance and tactics. Personally, I like Pardew as boss ; but his setup was wrong for any opposition. I think we did the same many times this year and it just doesnt work and isn't the kind of football I want to see anymore. Play the ball to feet , shoot outside the box rather than put in an ineffictive high ball from 20 yards.

Having recently come out and said he has been suffering from depression , I think its showing in his game. He's a quality player though, with the world at his feet - so it goes to show that it can affect anyone. A worry is that depression isnt something that goes away forever - I really hope that he can adapt to life in the North East , it has been a god awful winter though. I admire him for being public about it as it raises awareness, but it worries me that another one of our first team key players has long term injury doubts. Maybe its me, but hes looked so frustrated for many games now.

Undecided. I don't think hes got the right mental attitude, he seems soft . Can pass, thats for sure - but often passes into spaces that the team dont get into - can't blame him for those wayward looking ones. Time will tell, but I don't think he's a first team premier league player yet.

annoyingly good tho isnt he.

So what its really saying is that if we didn't sell Demba Ba we'd be operating at a loss of a few million - I wouldn't say selling your first team striker is very sustainable year on year. Without carol & co the year before we'd be 10 in the red. Hardly a financial masterstroke.

If Mike Ashley strikes you as someone who wants "more" than Profit , then I believe you are very misguided. The only "more" I could say, is personal fame / bragging rights.

Massadio Haïdara signs for Newcastle on 5.5 year deal

Pissed me off that they said they couldnt make retrospective judgements if the ref team saw it. Whats the point in a bloody FA inquiry if they cant act retrospectively, the whole things retrospective the numpties. -
I think we do have a history of hamstring problems and I know one good player mentioned it a few years ago as being during the winter months as its so cold in Newcastle and the training surfaces are far too firm when frosted. I don't think its the training pitch so much as the weather, if it's anything at all. Seems credible though.

Cheers for the belly laugh.

I didn't think he was lazy with that jog, I reckon he was thinking "why bother" - clearly no one wanted to pass him the ball. I was talking at the time wondering what hes done to upset his teammates so much, or are they showing a clique amongst the first team? There's no understanding some of the passes that weren't made to him.
-
Brilliant news, he totally deserves it. I'd be delighted if his injuries are behind him too, he's looked brilliant these past few games.

We've already had the card stat war and its a myth that other DMFs get the same card ratio. Perch doesn't have the ability tiote does, so his yellows don't grate me quite as much.

The Road To Amsterdam ArenA (UEFA Europa League 2013) - THE END
scoobos replied to Aeris's topic in Newcastle Forum
We are on ESPN twice this month so far ) I think we will hammer them on Thursday myself, they might have a good team on paper but they hardly shone last game. Unfortunately tho I reckon we won't progress much further afterwards , we don't have enough cover for the cup tied lads and the competition will step up 100% by the time the semis come round. Its been a good run but tbh, at this stage id rather we forget about the premier league and make.this competition the priority, were safe in th e league and have nothing more to play for. This is a chance to stay in Europe next year. -
Cockend. He's getting worse ... He just can't help himself, his teddy tantrums when he gets booked do my nut in as well.

At long last, should have been done ages ago.

How do Ashley's other business deals affect us?
scoobos replied to The Fish's topic in Newcastle Forum
The accounts published don't cover this year since the stadium was renamed, we will need to wait for this years to be published next year (accounts given in 2012/2013 are for the 2011/2012 financial year, unless im mistaken) -

That's niave imo, why wouldn't he charge it out? He charged out the board advertising costs, its all on the companies house website. -

Whilst that one thing may not.come as a great dodge it will be rolled.in with loads of other deals. I doubt he's paying 24% as the government have reduced corp tax over the past few years, its at 20% now i think. 2.75 million for stadium.naming rights according to Derek in a press conferance. 8-10 mil for shirt and stadium and given that shirt alone was 6.5 mil that puts mike in for at least 1.5 mil perhaps more. Next years accounts will include this years revenue so we will know for sure then. google st James sports direct naming worth and you'll find a journal article. The figure of a quarter mil comes just from the SD on the advertising boards as the current accounts don't cover a years stadium naming rights. -

Its the same thing most corporations do, the quarter of a mil is from memory , the accounts from last year are published online somewhere, I'll check my bookmarks when I get home. The corp tax thing is bang on tho, many businesses with the same owner crosscharge expenses like this , thus the upset about Starbucks etc. The cost will be recorded in SD as an operating expense and then he wont have to pay 20% of whatever it is -
I think he'll stay , rumour has it he has been blighted with attitude clashes with managers and players and everything I've seen of him at the toon has shown none of this . If his reputation is anything to go by we'd soon know if he wanted away. French press has him down as calling targets to lure them to the club, I reckon he's enjoying himself here and why not?
