Once all the older, sort of 65+ lot, got on Facebook and Twitter and started lapping up all the conspiracy shit and Russian propaganda. It’s had a big hand in stuff like what’s just happened, what happened 8 years ago, Brexit, Johnson winning his ‘landslide’, the rise of fascism and Reform. It’s not all of them by any means or just them. But loads of that generation are completely down the rabbit hole. And they’re never coming back.

There is definitely something to be said for trying not to worry too much about stuff you can’t control. For the sake of our own sanity as much as anything. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not remotely ok with what’s happening. But what the fuck can we actually do beyond trying to look after ourselves and the people we care about?

Interestingly (or maybe not so interesting) their current polling would see a much reduced vote share and majority. Although still pretty healthy in the latter case. FPTP might be their saviour. Not sure that’s particularly good for democracy or Labour in the longer term though. Tbf complacency doesn’t seem to be an issue. My main worry would be Reform though. As apart from anything else polling underestimated their share (and overestimated Labour’s) quite significantly last time round. Although the seat projections weren’t far off. The other problem for Labour is getting squeezed at the other end by left wing voters going for independents, Greens etc. even in seats where they just means Reform or Conservatives winning. The older of my two dogs is partially deaf. It’s been a blessing in disguise as he can only hear higher pitched noises like when you whistle. I say that because he was previously terrified of fireworks and I have little doubt it would have caused him to have a heart attack or something as he’s now 15. He would literally shake with panic for hours. Only to be set off again with even the sound of a distant firework if you could eventually get him calmed. You can get get stuff prescribed, basically Valium, which did seem to work. Problem is it needs to be taken hours in advance, you can’t give them it too often and it’s not just one night that it happens. Honestly, it’s a genuinely heartbreaking thing to witness. I get that people like them and I wouldn’t go for an all out ban. But you can get ones now that make little or no noise. I would regulate it more too and only allow organised displays.

Could genuinely see Farage as a not too distant future PM. What a fucked up world we live in. Not surprised but quite fearful of what the future might hold. Especially for my kids
