Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Alex replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not sure but Tassotti and Maldini might have a slightly stronger case -
I know it’s meant to be Roman ruins but it reminded of the time when fucking hundreds of them queued up to climb to the top of Penshaw monument. I.e. a slightly higher view from the top of a column already perched on top of a hill

They’ve won a major trophy and played competitive European football more recently than Gateshead was in County Durham 👍🏻

I’m alright but I’d be better if I could get a prescription for cannabis. In case anyone’s wondering

The Rat was indoors / underground

Reminds him of the time he made that story up 👍🏻

There you go @Tom
-
He wasn’t here very long, but you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of Mick Harford either
-
The Orb released it in 1991

The other thing I would say is having Stokes able to actually bowl gives the team the sort of balance it has lacked for a few years now.

Apparently it’s the only ground since the analysis began (think it includes something like 80 odd test venues) where the average amount of runs per wicket increases by innings as the match progresses. So that would have possibly fed into the decision too. I still think it was wrong but they won in some style so I guess it doesn’t matter.

A bit of genuine pace and bounce makes all the difference though, doesn’t it? As these days even the relatively poor tailenders can all hold a bat. England have struggled at times with that lack of variation in their attack when the ball isn’t doing much. And while it’s great to see Archer playing red ball cricket again, the performances of Tongue and Carse should mean there’s absolutely no rush to get him back in the England test side.

Apparently he was, at one time, in a psychedelic prog rock band with Vangelis (of Bladerunner soundtrack fame). And they did a concept album based on the Book of Revelation. Demis Roussos I mean, not Elanga.
-
You’re right though. India chucked wickets away in very strong positions in both innings. But even more so their catching and fielding in general was terrible. If it had just been average then you would think that decision would have cost England the match.

Piece of piss tbh

Don’t worry, you’ll find a way -
How would they know what a CL away game was like?

100%. I’ve got a lot of issues with him but that’s a fucking pathetic tweet imo. It’s almost Owen Jones levels of naive simplicity
-
Well if he scored five he must have scored two on the way to getting to that total
-
-
I think they were aimed at KD
-
Crediting Tom with those two wickets
