  1. Where Corbyn’s manifesto was positioned on the political spectrum didn’t necessarily make it deliverable then and it’s without a doubt less deliverable now. I don’t know why people get too hung on manifestos anyway. No one reads them or sticks to them
  2. Because they all made big allowances for their club spending more in transfers during the occasionally mentioned run of six consecutive victories against us too
  3. He was past his peak because of the injuries but still brilliant when Brazil won the World Cup in 2002. An aspect of his game that’s probably underrated is his superb finishing ability. Which is part of why he was still so effective when he was no longer rapid.
  4. Have they not realised all the security, stewards and ground staff at the SoL are mags?
  5. I was on tenterhooks waiting to find out who the keyboard player looked like.
  6. That Roker Mackem character still not bothered about us I see.
  7. He’ll later progress to being annoyed at mags not being annoyed about the made up thing he’s pretending we’re annoyed about
  8. Knew a lad who had a book on hallucinogenic mushrooms. Iirc you had to be very careful with the preparation of fly agaric. Never bother with that myself although nearly everyone I knocked about with did liberty cap ones. Which are obviously much safer, from a poisoning yourself pov. The period you’re in about, when you could get the Hawaiian ones etc in places like Kard Bar. They were imported from Holland (where they were legal). And someone had spotted a loophole in the law. Iirc, they were only illegal if ‘prepared’. I.e. dried and / or added to hot water to consume. So they sold fresh ones for a while. I saw a good documentary re: the industry in the Netherlands. A foreign tourist with mental health problems jumped off a building or something and died after taking some. The government banned them. So these farmers diversified into growing hallucinogenic truffles instead. They became known as the Truffle Brothers Not really sure why they were ok but the shrooms weren’t.
  9. And how can you be a generational talent on your day?
  10. Saw this on Cuntbook. I didn’t read the article but it’s fucking mental the platform she has. The BBC promoting her ffs. I know it’s just local but howay
  11. I forgot it was on. Flicked through and saw it was 0-1. I watched about 2 minutes after that. Completely uninterested tbh. In fact, I’d forgotten about it again until I came on here this morning However, I would say that if you’re going to experiment a bit then a Nations League game v Greece is probably the place to do it. Re: Carsley. I wonder if he’ll see the reaction and think to himself ‘Can I really be arsed with this? If this is the reaction to a fairly meaningless result’
  12. You’ll have to ask Gillian McKeith
  13. Bit late in life to harbour ambitions of joining the SAS if you ask me
  14. Scoreboard pressure plus their confidence being shot. They’ve lost 5 in a row previously. Even roads in the subcontinent start doing a bit eventually too. But England probably mixed it up a bit better too in their bowling attack. Even in the first innings they never gave up. I think the Pakistanis confidence/string of defeats led to a ‘draw pitch’ being prepared. But when it’s not doing a lot it probably just plays into the hands of England’s batsmen. Who can be devastating. Not that I was predicting what happened. It’ll done Carse a lot of good for his ashes chances. Bowling well on pitches with little lateral movement.
  15. He’s weird as fuck, his neediness is off the scale and his patter is absolutely rancid. He’s basically found his spiritual home on there
  16. What a wanker. Apart from the gentle reminder what insufferable cunts a lot of our fanbase are, what the fuck was club meant to do in the meantime? You could just imagine their reaction if the club had gone mental and been heavily penalised. It’s not exactly beyond the realms of possibility that the club has played a blinder by staying within the regulations so far. And are much better set as a result. Still I’m sure they got plenty likes for it (which is what really motivates these nonentities imo)
  17. Aye. And they (initially) fought against our side in WW2 for that reason (ie against the Soviets). Are you familiar with this fella btw? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_Häyhä
  18. I do 60% in the office. Which everybody is supposed to be doing, with certain dispensations. But, as far as I can tell, hardly anybody does. Not my problem, I don’t actually manage anyone. I probably prefer going in but the balance is good. I know I am lucky in that respect. Inevitably lots of people take the piss. Which I think they get away with because the people managing them are doing the same. There’s 100 desks dedicated to our department at my place. There’s about 3-4 times that based there. Even allowing for part-time workers, sick leave, holidays, etc. you can see there shouldn’t be enough desks. But I book one absolutely no problem and it’s ‘busy’ if it’s about 80% full. To be honest I think covid and recruiting people to work remotely has caused chaos in central government with teams dispersed all over the shop. I’m the only person in my area based up here. I’m not really sure how you fix it now either. Ironically we seemed to work better (albeit in a different, covid specific role) when everyone in my old team worked remotely. What I’ve noticed is even people in the same teams come in but don’t book desks together so you don’t even have the ‘collaborative ways of working’ advantages. Sorry, I know that’s dull as fuck I just find it all very strange. Benton Park View used to be packed. People would come in at half six and sit in their cars for a bit just to get a space
