On the coach transfer to the airport coming home we were sat at the front. I felt like I would have only been half surprised if Toad and Yoshi had gone past on go karts closely followed by Donkey Kong hoying bananas at them

I suppose it’s a bit hit and miss depending on how good the guide is etc. Ours was two hours supposedly but lasted a bit longer. Personally I thought the local guide was excellent and you really would have needed to do loads of research or at least have a bought an audio guide to get anything like the insight we got from him and knowing where to go / what you were looking at. We did specifically pick a one that was a small group though (15 people max). You saw some massive groups which I think would be a bit naff as obviously some of the bits are inside / into small areas with limited space. I quite agree that you could have spent a much larger amount of time on a tour / there yourself, as it’s huge. Although we weren’t picked up at our hotel. Ours was one where we met our guide at the train station at Pompeii. Which meant we could look round the site at our leisure after our tour finished, so we had a stroll to the amphitheatre too.

Also amusing to see their visible disgust at the daft tourists walking around in Milan and Juve tops, caps, etc. thinking they’re blending in

They’ve had a lush Indian summer but it fucking pissed down the first day (to the extent the 1 hour ish transfer took 3 and a bit hours) then the second day was quite wet. Last two days were nice. But it’s basically been lush for weeks before and then is the same for the long term forecast. Typical October is generally quite a wet month though I think. But I suppose if you go for a week then there’s a good chance of decent weather sone of the time. We were just there the 3 nights as the grandparents were looking after the kids and dogs. We were in the hills above Sorrento and actually a bit closer to the Amalfi coast with views both of that and also the bay of Naples. We were full board too and the food was lush. You couldn’t walk to Sorrento really but there was a regular shuttle bus. We got the train to Pompeii and had a guided tour, which was excellent. I don’t think Sorrento is ever that quiet but I would say it’s relatively so at this time of year. Plus I don’t know how people can be arsed to sightsee with the sort of Mediterranean summers that seem to be the norm now. A couple of strolls around Sorrento and the Pompeii trip was all we did. But you’ve got Ischia, Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, Vesuvius plus the Amalfi coast with Ravello, Positano etc that are all pretty close to Sorrento. I think the Italians are, in the main, class and a good laugh too. They’re piss-takers too, which I like, often asking ‘You speak Italian?’ At my shite attempts to ask for two coffees or whatever
-
Just on my way back from Sorrento. A timely reminder of how much I love Italy and the bizarre near omnipresence of Tennent’s Super I had completely forgotten about the latter. I’ve googled it before and I’ve still never really found a proper explanation Anyway, ciao

And how they’ve dictated a set of anti-competitive rules to come in to force to stop us catching them. Even the fucking rule brought in specifically aimed at Tindall because we got in the CL the previous year and the likes of Arteta (who can act like a massive cunt with impunity) couldn’t handle a bit of needle.

There’s a bigger story, not least by virtue of it being an actual story. I .e. the Premier League (due to the process being completely lacking in transparency) approving the deal (after previously delaying it seemingly indefinitely) purely on the say so of Qatar.

That ship has sailed I think, with his role in the ODI set-up and the money he can make from franchise cricket. Not that I disagree with idea. Tbh, I’d have had him as the test wicketkeeper and not have pandered to Bairstow (who should’ve been a specialist batsman or not in the side imo)

Have RTG confirmed that Wearside Jack was, in fact, a Durham mag yet?
-
In my case that and I’ll croon ya (crown you) which in practice was an unexpected slap to the top of the head using the left hand due to the added effect of her wedding ring.

I’m similar with the de facto in laws / brother in law. The latter was sending my lass covid conspiracy shit when she was working in both the RVI on an actual covid ward, then later when she was working back on her normal ward during lockdown. He’s similarly pig ignorant about most things yet an expert on stuff like the effects of the vaccine to Brexit. All ‘big truths’ learnt via social media. My parents less so. Although my mam is more susceptible to that stuff than my dad. In the latter case he’s never been into Facebook (never even had an account) and his being exposed to fake news amounts to his sitting watching Sky Sports News when he’s bored. Which leads me to another thing. It’s always the kids who get tarred with brush but that older generation, 70+ are addicted to all that troll-farm driven bollocks on social media.

Really sorry to hear about your mate. Also, what sort of reaction is that? Even if that’s what the colleague was thinking. You’ve just had an awful fucking gut wrenching shock ffs.

I’ve a vague memory that there was a story in a tabloids at the time about Hodges’ Hell up here or something like that. During which time his ‘weight ballooned’ to 14 stone or something like that McFaul signed him iirc? That’s all I can remember about his short spell here

I was being facetious but the people you’re talking about have been lost because social media and the internet in general is a ‘wild west’. And one where they’re sold lies because it’s in the interests of foreign powers who want to see the end of democracy as we know it. I see the likes of Andrew Tate as a result of that rather than its driver. It’s obviously not quite as simple as certain parties driving everything. But I really don’t know how you provide a ‘truthful’ alternative from a left wing perspective to people who despise women because they’re abhorrent to women
-
Not really sure I know what a left wing version of a people trafficking, tiny cocked misogynistic cunt who’s a hero of the thick as fuck misinformed should be like.

When exactly were the days when being an ex-MP was desired? Obviously there’s jobs for the boys for the old school tie lot like Gove and Osbourne. Getting editor roles where they’re just a name with others going their work. That cunt is getting exactly what he deserves as he’d have sneered at anyone in the same boat a few months ago.
-
All perfectly normal I’m not sure where they’re getting any of this from but I’m only really aware of the women’s match against them because of the fewm / insanity afterwards from their lot on RTG. Why are they even bothered?
-
I would definitely only have the coin toss for the first match in a series. Then you should alternate afterwards for which captain has the option to bat or bowl

Nah, I think the industrial dryers are already en route

Speaking of which, I googled ‘Fabricant’ just to remind myself of his majority. The Wikipedia page has been amended now but it looks like some wag had been having a bit of a laugh at his expense
