  1. Aye, you have to wonder how many careers were ruined by that odious cunt just because they said no
  2. I think the original cinema release is the one with the voice over? Which I don’t think Ridley Scott liked. The studio iirc wanted it included because of the ‘neo noir’ style of the film. By having the voice over by Deckard it was even more of a nod to those early Raymond Chandler adaptations like The Big Sleep. It’s definitely an inferior version and has a different ending. I think that’s the one available for free on Freely or one of those apps. I tried watching it not too long ago and the voiceovers give it a bit if a corny feel imo. It’s completely unnecessary too and removed sone of the essential ‘coldness’ to the character imo. There’s a 1992 Director’s Cut, which is the first version I saw, I am fairly certain. Then there was a final directors version for the 25th anniversary or something. Scott reckoned that 92 version wasn’t actually his version and only the later one is a true director’s cut. Although you’d probably have to watch them back to back to notice much difference. TL:DR, watch one of the newer versions (I think they’re only c. 2 hours long so not too indulgent by Scott).
  3. Watched the first two seasons now. I think 2 was a slight improvement. Really enjoying it so far. Glad to hear it’s been renewed for another couple of seasons as I don’t think it’ll take me long to get through 3 & 4.
  4. I thought it was really good. Although I’m not sure agree re: it being much better. I still prefer the original but admittedly haven’t seen it in ages. Although I have seen it lots of times. I was expecting 2049 to be a bit shot and a let down but it managed to live up to the original. The book is really good too. Not too complex by PKD standards either. That is not me suggesting you require a novel to be simple btw but some of his stuff is a proper head fuck

The only real form of protest you have available to you is to get off Twitter, stay off it and ignoring it completely imo.
  6. Actually remember seeing that film (different soundtrack ) on the coach going on holiday to Estartit

  8. Uneventful first day for the opening test in the Australia v India test series
  9. Is there a thread on there on this yet?
  10. The Beatles would’ve been nothing without that series
  11. Me granny (Burradon one) used to give me a spoonful of Lurpak with sugar sprinkled on top as a treat.
  12. Heard about the article. Obviously didn’t read it. But the gist of it seems to be younger people prefer chicken sandwiches. Chicken is now ‘woke’
  13. No Farmers No Food seems to have replaced Reform as the gammony profile picture of choice on social media.
  14. Lass I used to work with said it was quite an autocratic right wing government. And also quite a sexist society, mainly driven by the former. Paying women to stay at home and have kids, under the guise of Catholic theocracy, keeping them out of the workplace to an extent. Especially what’s deemed to traditional male jobs. Which includes basically almost everything that pays well.
  15. I could never quite work out if that Sunderland Global Media page / website was a pisstake or the person behind it just an idiot. Although the earnestness suggests the latter. Apart from that clip the fact they rate ‘Bally’ so highly sums them up. He’d just be another clogger who past through the club if it was NUFC. Even in one of the prolonged periods when we weren’t very good
  16. Watched the first couple last night. Right up my street. Especially the nod to Cold War 60s spy thrillers in less than glamorous locales with the use of Slough House. I always preferred those dingy sort of anti-James Bond novels and films from that era (even though I like the Bond movies). Fantastic cast as well
  17. Thing is Derbyshire is really good. So he absolutely walked into that one re: him already claiming that was the reason he’d bought the farm. In his appalling Sunday Times column. He’ll have been trying to be funny when he wrote it, he’ll have been gloating at those much less well off and he’ll have been playing to his boring as fuck wannabe edgelord fanboys. But he’ll have been telling the truth too. Or telling it like it is, as they say. Anyway, I hope his heart attack wasn’t too trivial
