At my school weâd have read Smash Hits but it wouldâve been reading a copy one of the lasses had bought on the sly. Youâd never actually go into a shop and buy it. Even though it was decent and would feature some bands you liked. Also one of the few decent things about getting old is you can like any of the stuff you liked growing up. I really liked loads of disco/post disco at the time. Talking early 80s I guess. But I wouldnât have admitted to it a few years later in the 90s. And probably didnât really like it for a while. Especially stuff like Shalamar and all the stuff Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers did. Most of which is fucking sensational imo. But now I donât give a fuck because Iâm an uncool middle aged dad. Thatâs another good thing re the Chart Music podcast. I.e. itâs the absolute perfect time in my life for me to be listening to it with the attitude I have to music now where I just like stuff and donât have any hang ups about what people might think about my taste.

Not Top of the Pops but this might appeal to the Chart Music lot /pop-crazed youngsters. Shalamar (who I unashamedly fucking love) performing live on The Tube:

I havenât, no. Thanks, looks interesting. I love that era and that specific subculture

On the subject on Xmas (-ish), thereâs a house on my estate and they have a themed wreath on their door, which varies throughout the year, which seems to be a bit of a trend now. They also put themed decorations up in the small tree next to their house. So Easter, summer and so on. Itâs on my way to the metro and I also often go past when walking the dogs. This year I noticed the Halloween stuff replaced the summer theme on September 1st Even better the OTT Xmas decorations, including tinsel wrapped around all the lampposts nearby were there on the 1st of fucking November. I went past on New Yearâs Day and theyâve put up a pink wreath and pink heart decorations up in the tree for Valentineâs Day. Seriously, what are people like?

I mean Iâm not condoning what he did. But at least with Jenas you could see how a former premier league footballer might think theyâre godâs gift to women. But Wallaceâs ego seems to be largely based on being an overweight middle aged bloke who lost a couple of stone and started going to the gym. The fucking state of him, man. Mind, I doubt thereâs much between them in the whoâs the biggest cunt stakes.

I think the words youâre looking for are: Jason Tindall

Aye. I think itâs fuelled in part by Anita Dobson* being disingenuous about it because his job is on the line. But youâre right in that it still shows an ignorance of the rule. Which was interpreted absolutely correctly. *Thatâs one for the kids.

Itâs quite an ambiguous statement anyway, so itâs not like repeating it several times clarified anything. I donât know why he just didnât say he thought theyâd created enough to win. I donât think thatâs true and we shaded it in terms of xG. But he just comes across likes heâs trying to con people into thinking Spurs were hard done to. Feel a bit sorry for him as he seems alright but his style of play has seen him found out a bit.

Itâs his latest grift. Our election periods arenât fixed so heâs trying to engineer a campaign to call an election here. I donât even think he knows what the aim is. Despite being wealthy beyond anyoneâs dreams heâs bored with everything, hates just about everything and at the core of that is his own, putrefying sociopathic ego. A lot of humanity, unfortunately, deserves him though. Most, unfortunately, donât

Thatâs the rule. Itâs not a boundary until the ball either lands over the boundary or touches it. If the fielder is in contact with the ball and touches the boundary or steps over the boundary whilst fielding the ball or catching it, then itâs a boundary. So in this case he stopped the ball landing over the boundary, even though itâs apparently crossed the line. Applies whether itâs a four or a six. You can flick the ball back to another player too where the same rules apply. Obviously if you do it when the ball has already bounced inside the boundary youâre only preventing a four. If heâd flicked the ball back but had failed to catch it before it bounced inside the boundary, heâd still have prevented a six being scored. This sort of thing was virtually unheard of until fairly recently but the standard of fielding is incredible these days.

Deeney seems to have carved out a bit of a media career for himself. Also seems to turn up on loads of those podcast clips you see where players relate âfascinatingâ anecdotes from back in the day. I must have caught about 5 or so with him on and on every single one heâs had a fallout with and threatened to chin the manager / one of the coaches. Even allowing for BS maybe he was the issue a lot of the time? -
She was later though I think. Not that I particularly liked her, probably due to an aversion to the show in general. Although I do remember the lily pond catfight she had with Alexis / Joan Collins

Just realised I meant Lynda Carter! Wonder Woman not Krystle fucking Carrington

In an innocent âcrushâ, long before my balls dropped-type of way, I wouldâve been into Secker, Linda Evans and Floella Benjamin at various stages in the late 70s / 80s.

You tried this one @Gemmill ? Got a nice retro feel to it as well đđ»

I just thought Iâd chuck that killjoy spanner into the works. It felt like it was what your little brain teaser really needed itâs all fairly arbitrary anyway. Given Jesus was probably born a few years before 1 AD (King Herod died c. 4 BC). Fucking hell, Iâm boring myself now.
-
Despite all the millennium 1999 stuff this century and millennium actually started 1st January 2001. The first year of AD or the Common Era was year â1â not a year â0â. AD 1 came immediately after BC 1. Although obviously they were not regarded as that until later.

Also could be a bit of a history rewrite to make him look less of a rat. Especially since it went so deliciously badly for him at Man Utd

Couldâve probably gotten away with giving him it as thereâs a good chance a young lad receiving a diary (a fucking diary in 2024 ) would never have opened it -
