  1. Half price? That's never normally £40 btw. I mean, it might be in Booth's (that's Waitrose isn't it?) but that's outrageous.
  2. The USA represents about a 1/4 of global GDP. That's why it's important, whether people like it or not.
  3. I bet they're not real. Still though...
  4. USA is still the biggest single economy by far. Almost as big as the EC which is 27 countries and still twice the size of China's which has a far bigger population.
  5. I don't think I've had a bad single malt but I think the normal 10 y.o. Jura is canny boring tbh. Not much to it at all. If you're going to pay £20 for it you might as well spend a touch more and get something much nicer. In fact, I'd rather have any of the blends I mentioned. Supersition's a bit more interesting, being a mix of an older unpeated malt and a young peated one. Bushmill's 10 y.o. Single Malt is a lovely drop though. Btw, I picked up a fantastic bargain for people who like Cognac. Sainsbury's do a Taste the Difference XO Cognac. It's £28 for a 500ml bottle in the shops but online it's £20.45. Sainsbury's were offering £12 off if you spent £60 on your first online shop so I got 3 bottles for just over £50 (inc postage) instead of the £84 you'd pay in the shop. It's absolutely lush as well.
  6. You'd love America, CT. The portions are fucking huge.
  7. The Scudetto came first, i.e. the league winners could wear the shield the following year, but aye, I think it was an extension of that. I didn't know that about Uruguay but the Olympics was, in effect, the world championship for football, before the World Cup came along. Which means that England have been World Champions 4 times
  8. Got time for Nolan for his time here, bar his cowardly displays when we went down. But he only left because they were stupid enough to pay him that ridiculous contract he's on. He's probably a bit bitter because in his heart, just like AC, he'd much rather be playing for us. And he fucking loved the attention up here because he's a massive fanny rat.
  9. Must admit like CT, that story you concocted about me going into politics was canny funny. Even more so to those that knew me. I noted J69 and Leazes amongst others were taken in by it
  10. Black Bush is nice. It's a blended whisky, as you probably know. A few really nice blended Scotches are Johnnie Walker Black Label and Chivas Regal 12 year old. They're quite different in style but both very drinkable. Another couple of of nice blends which are slightly more unusual are Pig's Nose (made by the same people as the Edinburgh Gin I mentioned above) and Great King Street made by Compass Box. Compass Box make absolutely superb whiskies and everything I've tried by them has been fantastic but my favourite would be a malt they do called The Spice Tree. If you like Glenmorangie (which is a very nice drop imo) then you could check out some of their different 'finishes', i.e. whiskies that have been matured in a bourbon barrel for about 10 years then get an extra year or so in a different barrel to provide a different taste. They do one called Nectar D'Or which has been finished in a Sauterne cask (sweet French desert wine) and another called Quinta Ruben (port finish). Also, if your Dad likes Jura he might like the Tobermory Monkey's Fist posted as they're both quite light in style. Another suggestion would be a Lowland malt like Bladnoch (small independently owned company) or Auchentoshan (which is triple distilled in the traditional Lowland style). And MF, if you get the chance to try it, the 15 year old Tobermory is absolutely lush - Xmas cake in a glass.
  11. It's from Serie A originally although I think it was originally something the clubs awarded to themselves rather than anything official. Juve did it first with their 10th win in the late 50's or early 60s and it was then adopted by others. Then it's come to represent European Cups etc. for different sides. The Dutch have only been doing it for a few seasons I think. Man City put 3 on theirs one year for absolutely no reason other than they thought it looked nice
  12. Eh? Sampled some lovely whiskies of late. Wor lass got me a bottle of the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition (sherry finish) which is fucking unbelievable stuff and I bought myself a really nice 15 year old Glendronach which is a nice rich dram.
  13. It's hard to hold a book while you're eating tbf
  14. Other way round, surely. Not trying to convince you to take up reading because you're clearly stuck in your ways and there'd be no point but you have to use your imagination when you read a novel. Also, there was some research done which suggested your brain has to work much harder compared to watching a film, for example. Although that's pretty obvious anyway. I get a lot of pleasure out of reading tbh. It's a been life-enriching experience for me. I'd hate to have to live without being able to read books.
  15. Why read a book when you can watch the film?
  16. Never mind that, what about Chantelle and Alex Reid?
