Obviously you can't prove it either way and you could argue Ba suffered as a result of Cisse coming in but I think he'd have lost form anyway (or, to be more precise, he already had) so we'd have scored a lot less without Cisse. Re: the CB, given we probably should've signed one last summer and that we didn't then or in January then my opinion would change if we don't get at least one this summer because of the extra time etc. It's worth noting they realised the value of Colo and gave him a new deal like when everyone assumed he'd go with a year left on his contract.

I'd ban anyone wearing any of those shit slim-fit shirts with epaulettes.

It's shite now (new owners). It's only ever really been a place I went on match days anyway though. Still handy for the ground though, although not having a ST any more I've got no reason to go. It's basically like a Scream bar now iyam.

I thought there was a stat (on the beeb) whereby we conceded fewer goals with Williamson in the team (I'll try and find it). Either way, I find it inconceivable that a centre-back would've had a bigger or more positive impact than Cisse. And we tried to sign Mariappa (sp?) as a stop-gap. If a first team CB were available at the right money I think we'd have gone in for him (and probably got him). Obviously we need a CB like, but it's not just a case of needing a player and then going out and buying him in January, although I take on board what you're saying, HF. Sell-on value / value for money is obviously an important factor in the players we buy. I'm inclined to think that's a good thing though.

Not really. Or do I mean 'yes'?

Fair enough I suppose. Nice to see the correct spelling of boracic as well

I love Tapestry like.

Could you not have got a better deal in the current financial climate? They all seem to be doing offers atm.

I'm off this like a sit-down wiper.

It's down on the bottom of Dean Street, it used to be The Italian Job, then Wings. Not sure what it was after that. It's below the Surteess Hotel. And aye, the beer's nice in the bottle. Basically the same as a lot of those US micro breweries like Sierra Nevada and Goose Island if you've had any of them.
-
Or ask us. Keep some places esoteric though, eh?
-
Aye. It's been open about 6 months. The beer's good but pricey. I'm not so sure about the place itself. The crowd was a bit of a mixed bag, a bit like places like The Centurion, although that's better than the trendy twats I'd have expected it to attract. I think the decor's a bit shite. I quite like the stripped back industrial look but it's spoilt by fake girders etc. that make it look a bit cheap and nasty imo. Whatever though it's better than most bars in the Toon and definitely better than most of the ones down the Quayside.

Like you say it's moot as he'll only arrive if he's prepared to take a wage cut (about £50k a week at a guess). I think it might happen like. Especially if they get Dempsey in. LFC can say they want £20m but I don't see anyone paying that and if he goes elsewhere, (West Ham are meant to be interested) then I reckon the buying club will need to match the £80k he's on now. All bodes well for us getting him late in the window imo.
-
Paying Carroll £80k would mean you'd need to pay about half a dozen other key players that to keep them at the club though.

Something we can all agree on.

You obviously included Blatter as well though. And it's got fuck all to do with him. And Uefa may be corrupt but they're not in Fifa's ballpark tbh. Largely because, thanks to the CL, they don't need to be. Fifa, on the other hand, need (in their eyes at least) to squeeze every drop of blood out of the World Cup that they can, because it's basically their only source of income.
-
It's a bit steep when it's £20 to see them in a competitive match in the same part of the world (more or less) though.

Just reminded me of the bloke at the DSS I worked with who had one arm. Was referred to as Slot. To his face, I might add.

I knew a lad called Bob went by the nickname Horse's.

Garth Crooks He's been on since the mid-80s as well.

What about Seville-Cordoba-Granada? I've only been to Granada to see the Alhambra Palace but I'd highly recommend it. Should've cooled down by then but still be warm. Plenty culture, especially Moorish, obviously, which is a bit different to your Greek / Roman ruins. I think you can get the train between all 3 from Malaga and (iirc) EasyJet fly to Malaga from Newcastle every day of the year. You could drive as well as they aren't that far apart (especially if you're going for a week). You could even watch a football match if you time it right although I don't know what your lass would have to say about that
