On Saturday do you mean? I was at the wedding of the bloke who is the club doctor (a lad called Paul Catterson, my lass worked with his lass at the time) and he was sat on the bench as usual for the game against Hull. Spotted him on MoTD after Cisse's 2nd.

The rumours were that Pardew was lined up for weeks while the club picked a suitable moment to sack Hughton. Which is another reason not to feel sorry for him. The reason I believe the rumours is because they were circulating weeks before he got the job.

It's damp squib, you half-wit. Anyway, Statto.com's current points prediction* sees us finishing joint 4th bottom on 38 points, 2 points above 3rd bottom. I would probably take that as well. *Updated after every round of games.

Going to go a bit HF here but, if you look at his points per game*, since he arrived Pardew has accrued 1.31 pts/game. Even if you take out the season we came 5th it's 1.17. Ashley would be more than happy with the latter every season since it would work out at about 44 points a season which would probably equate to something like 10th/11th every year (if not slightly higher). Obviously, 4 games in, and it's only a point every other game so far. If that doesn't improve quite soon we're fucked but I can see why Ashley is sticking with Pardew at the minute. That's not a defence of either of them, just my trying to guess how Ashley's mind probably works regarding this. Defeat against Hull and he might feel like keeping the status quo is a chance he can no longer take. *Makes more sense than looking at his win ratio, not least since it only accounts for league games and that's all the club is arsed about anyway.
