Got an absolutely lush 1973 Armagnac from Aldi over the Xmas.

Thought the first episode of Wolf Hall was quality. Had the book for ages but haven't got round to reading it yet. Quite interested in that period of English history which obviously helps. Thought Mark Rylance was brilliantly understated as Thomas Cromwell and Jonathon Pryce was as good as he usually is. Good to see Moxey off Auf Wiedersehen too.

Chez is basically CT-lite these days.

Typical of our luck that the one gun nut we have on the forum also kisses Ashley's hoop. #Cursed

Only giving their demographic what it wants tbh.

I think Ashley bargained on us having enough points on the board already plus the likelihood we'll pick enough a couple of home wins plus the odd draw here and there and that will be enough to keep us up. On balance he's probably right but it's a unnecessary risk. He's taking the risk because it's saving him a canny bit of money (I would suggest Carver isn't even getting a rise to his relatively tiny wages for the extra responsibility). I really don't envisage him being the boss next season though.

The 'Appoint Carver' campaign has a lot to answer for. Especially given how easily the owner is influenced by the fans' wishes.

I got the Barry Sheene reference like, HMHM. Old Skool

Badly chosen phrase that.

I guess people who can't counter an argument have to misrepresent the views of others.

Depends what you mean. As Andrew points out Swansea won the League Cup recently. It's different if, by contrast you're prepared to regular write seasons off in January by actively seeking to offload an asset because you have enough points on the board. That's more or less making up the minds of any player who isn't in the 'lucky to be here' category sooner or later. Did I really need to point out the difference?
-
There's varying degrees to that though. Swansea (Swansea ffs ) show more ambition and desire to hold onto their players than we do.

Savage is still annoyed by all the wolf whistles he got at SJP and thinks he's now exacting revenge. I think he's a precious enough tart for that to be at least partly true as well.

I'm guessing they don't get access to the footage in time to do that on a Saturday night. Agree about Pat Nevin, he's good crack.

Any not in the pay of the SNP? Name a few and present their arguments.

Anyone remember who the two sides promoted from the old second division were that season? Edit: the one where we got relegated with Thorn in the side (wahey!)

I was going to say similar and I think you're right re: MOTD in general. I think Shearer plays it safe a lot of the time but I'd agree with Chez re: most of those on Sky (and in the media in general). As for that interview, no great insight but he was just answering questions and you wouldn't expect him to know what was going on anyway. At least he's in our corner and uses his position to have a pop at the owner.

Andy Thorn and Beasant were just there that one season. We got relegated. Beasant was shit but Thorn was alreet I thought. Bit of dirty centre-half. Went to Palace after that and did well. Keegan was looking at Salako around the time we signed Ginola. We went in for Ginola then the deal stalled over wages etc. We looked at Salako as an alternative to play wide-left but the deal with Ginola happened anyway. Jeff Thomas played in that Palace side too.
