Second, if this was some genius ploy, I don't think the outcome, increased spending on the military by NATO countries, are anywhere near to matching the political costs. Trump is a genuine Putin stooge. He's too thick to not even make it obvious. And that may yet be his downfall. Most the time things are as you see them. Occam's Razor.

The problem of declining birth rates is systemic. FoM was a great solution, from our perspective at least, not so much for Eastern Europe and the Baltics who became depopulated as a result, although I guess individuals from there benefitted. And those countries have benefited massively in the lobg term, which is good for all of Europe. Importing a million people a year from the subcontinent or Nigeria, who are quite culturally different, is less ideal imo. And they tend to settle permanently, and can bring over family after a period. The right wing brexiters were told this. And people like Stotty voted for it anyway. And still support Farage who fucking caused the problem. Thick as whale spunk.

I think the US might have provided more weapons monetarily but Europe has provided more aid overall. And bearing in mind the US is profiting from the weapons it is providing, their net spend isn't that great.

I was listening to a scientist on this yesterday. He was clear covid was almost certainly leaked (probably accidentally) from their Wuhan lab. Ftr, I've always considered this a possibility but was keen on it being backed by scientific evidence. It sort of is now. At least, the scientific circumstantial evidence is overwhelming.
