Didn't see it tbh.

I quite agree.... Love the way i'm 'not allowed' to compare us to Chelsea like.... But then again it DOES destroy their argument somewhat 53461 Your taking the piss, right? You didn't even see us play and you are comparing us to Chelsea.

With your input that's pretty much guaranteed Gazelle boy.

Quite honestly, yes. Chelsea at times played pretty gash last season but still managed to thrash out results. What do we remember more, those 'lucky' wins or the fact they won the title? The performance IS important, but it comes a definite second to the result IMO. The Keegan thing is not a cliche, it's fact. So many games we dominated and lost 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3 etc.... I'd much rather we'd played shit, got a lucky 1-0 win and ended up winning the league. I quite agree.... 53457 Utterly absurd to compare us to Chelsea like. You seem to miss my point, and several other peoples, about this run not being sustainable unless performances improve, but ho hum, nothing new there. As long as we can beat a bottom 6 side 1-0 you are happy..... No doubt you'll peddle the myth we had a poor defence under Keegan as well.

I hate this phrase. It's absolute nonsense. Of course nobody would be happier. But it is about the standards of a squad you have at your disposal and what you make out of it. If you have good players and play "pretty" football good results are inevitable, especially against inferior teams. Good football is not excluding good results. I think a midfield of Solano, Parker and Emre with Michael Owen up front shouldn't be happy with struggling against very poor opposition. The aim has to be higher. 53438 Whether you like the phrase or not, it's still valid.... Often we played 'pretty football' under Keegan and ended up losing by the odd goal so no, good results do not always follow.... The aim can be higher, true but if we can play shite and still win (which Chelsea did a lot of at the start of the season), we've got to be happy, surely? 53445 But it won't last unless our performances improve. That bit about Keegan was a total cliche btw.

renewed optimism last heard when winning 8 games or whatever against pub teams last season. Not too far away from the mentioned 4 wins, against poor teams, all of whom had grounds for feeling they at least matched us, or looking at it the other way round, we were as bad as them. And unfortunately, we still aren't in the top 4/5 position we were in before Souness arrived. The post from isegrim is good reading. 53191 3 points off 4th tbh. 53195 3 points off 3rd actually...! Some people will never be satisfied. I guess they'd be happier if we played 'pretty football' and got thumped 3-0 53413 To be fair Craig, did you actually watch the match on Saturday? 53420 53423 Valid point surely? How can you comment on people criticising the performance if you didn't actually see the match? 53430 WTF has that got to do with us getting a win?? If we play total shite and still win, why fucking moan about it!?!? We won, we got 3 points and we didn't conceed a goal. I didn't watch it, I listened to it and then watched the highlights later - I've never said it was a good performance, but then what's more important - playing attractive football or grinding out a result? 53437 Are you saying the performance isn't important? You would be happy for us to get pummelled for 89 minutes as long as we scored a flukey goal? The problem with taking resulkts in isolation is that it doesn't always tell you how well you are playing. At the the start of the 2002/3 season, we had a shocking start results wise. However, I was completely unconcerned because I knew we were playing well. We came third that season, and got to the second round of the CL. But this season if our performances don't improve our results will turn to shit. It's hardly rocket science.

I thought touching the void was brilliant. Whereas 999 is patently shit.

Going to cost £500 each according to the Sunday Times. Bargain.

It's about finding a balance though isn't it. I'd rather there was optimism on here than all that cobblers about being relegated that you have to endure on NO (Wullie is a canny lad, but I don't miss having to read his posts tbh ). I don't think we'll get into the Champions League, but it is a matter of fact that we are currently 3 points from a CL spot, and given our start to the season, I'm quite happy with that at the minute. 53402 Relegation was a possibility before the last minute acquisition of Owen imo. For the record, I'm currently enjoying my football more than I have in a long time. I've even applied for a ticket to see our annual massacre at Stamford Bridge, but it doesn't look like I'll get a ticket. Probably just as well given the price of them.

Rip off Milburn. Still, had a canny view of fireworks across the city on Saturday. 53404 I was just wondering because "dodgy keeper man" appears to have migrated from near where I sit (SJH L4) to be with the "ultras" on SJH L7. Anyone who sits near him will know who I mean.

You must be strong. 53355 Built like a brick shithouse tbh. 53357 What was it you estimated my weight at that time?... 14 stone? 53380 Aye but you've piled it on since then tbh. 53385 My fortnightly ventures up to level 7 mustn't be maintaining my slimline figure then. If only we were in Europe.. 53388 That's cos you don't run up the stairs like a gazelle like me. 53389 More like an elephant from what I hear. Where abouts do you two sit, Leazes or the rip off ones?

I don't think for a second that we've suddenly turned a corner and are going to wipe the floor with everyone we play, but I'm fucked if I'm gonna mope around and whinge whilst we're winning games. 53375 Ooooooh, get her! 53379 Shut it, numb-nuts-misery-guts. 53383

Got some easy ones too though. I really think the quality of the EPL is poor this year. And although we have bought some good players. we've also lost some good ones, but anyway, the main problem is still there - Souness and his band of merry parasites.
-
It reminds me exactly of last year, so much so I'm getting deja vu. There is no evidence we can beat anyone half decent. I expect a pitiful performance against Chelsea.
-
Ignorance is bliss? I agree to a certain extent, but performance is just as important as results, because it is the best indicator of how good we are. It's pretty frustrating at the minute, because although we are picking up points, you just know that with a better manager we could do so much better. With the money we've spent, and with the mediocrity of the EPL at the moment, there is no reason we shouldn't be pushing for second. As it is, I am just waiting for the mini-blip we're in to burst. We all know it will happen.

Tony Cunningham, the so-called half-time "hero"? Good on him. 53349 Racist. 53350 I know. Ok, I take it back. He was fab.

A,B, C, or D? Generally its regarded as an STI, some variations can be fatal. Hope for his sake it isn't this. Shit, just did what I said I wouldn't - speculated on Dyer's health.
-
Bring on Chelsea!
-
Yeah, I know, but I'm a racist.

I found it very hard to pick anyonr who was particularly good or bad. I will say this about Rammage though - please never shoot again. I mean never.

He's an ugly hunch-backed Welsh dwarf though. 53321 Scored against the mackems, therefore legendary status is automatic. If I see him, the pints are on me. 53323 *cough* Andy O'Brien *cough* 53332 Funny the stick AOB gets. It seems to be completely forgotten that he was an important player back in the days when we were actually good.
