Stand back, nothing to see here.......

David Brent's book of proverbs tbh.

Who's making a fuss? 55239 Well if I'm not mistaken, the story has made the news headlines and there appears to be some debate regarding the matter in this thread. 55241 Nobody is making a fuss about the actions of the French in this thread though are they? 55246 I just can't see why its a story ! So the French are chucking out illegal imigrants, hardly breaking news is it ? 55252 Agreed. Why are you making such a fuss about it?

light weight 55227 Vodka bar, Revolution, buy one get one free jugs last night... Fucking away with it! 55245 I thought they'd stopped such promotions but I obviously imagined it.

There have been the usual veering off topic conversations about racism, immigration, and crime and punishment (started by you) thrown in though.

My god, are we agreeing at long last ? 55221 Who wouldn't agree with that? Makes perfect sense.

He seems fairly obsessed by Daily Mail topics though. 55186 A lot of people are 55187 I think they're called right-wing extremists. 55200 I just don't understand the obsession with race and the whole paranoia "we're being taken over thing". Or most laughibly, it is white anglo-saxon middle-aged men that are becoming a persecuted minority. Or the PC gone mad bollocks the Mail is always spouting. All favourite subjects of message boards, which divide the posting fraternity into either being a left-wing do-gooder sandalista, or a BNP supporting right wing facist bastard. No middle ground is allowed, of course. 55204 To be fair, thats because too many people actually base their opinions on what they read in tabloid newspapers. I agree though, it hardly enhances the debate does it? 55205 I used to have you down as a sandalista, but having read your anti-oirish comment, I realise I was wrong and you are a facist bastard!

Agreed. If I broke the law to that extent over here I'd expect to be shipped home. A Spanish friend of mine was shipped home from Ireland for being a silly boy, it's only the US that are obsessed with shipping other people's problems in to exact their revenge. There's a very strong cultural/racial element to this from what I can see over here by the way. And I don't just think it's one of these coincidental race/class cross-overs. 55199 I don't see how being shipped out of Ireland is a punishment, so I don't, to be sure. 55202 Definitely gaelicist! IP ban now!

What a load of bollocks, especially the last sentence. How would the new 90 day law have prevented the London bombings or 9/11? Or any other terrorist attack in history for that matter? Are you seriously telling me that it is likely a terrorist will be picked up and questioned for a whole 28 days, then released because the police had insufficient evidence against them, and go on to commit a terrorist act? They would be under constant surveillance until the police could actually do their job and charge them. Blair said after 9/11 that terrorists would never change our way of life, yet he has gone on to do exactly that. He is exploiting a fear of terrorism which is completely disproportionate to the real threat, and using this as a lever to erode democracy. The only winners here are the terrorists themselves. I'm no tory, but they were spot on in this case imo.

Ahhhh...bollocks! 54932 Worse news for you SLP, Celine Dione is there too.

Stella belly can make for some interesting acoustic and aromatic displays.

Thank you oh wise one! 54922 Oi! You shall have no other gurus besides Me... 54924 Sorry Isegrim, I'm a polytheist. I take wisdom wherever I can find it, a spiritual slag if you will.

He always suggests twister cos he always wins. You've never seen a man with prosthetic limbs gloat so much. What the fuck have you got to smile about stumpy?! 54873 54875 Reminds me of this: Why Heather always wins at Twister.

People who say "Crimbo" deserve to die. FACT.

Very popular at "Mazola" parties in the seventies I believe. What was that, 4 posts in?

I don't know how to take you.... Your first point is interesting, but essentially wrong I think. Of course, a few hundred years ago people got many things totally wrong (e.g. sun orbitting the earth). However, now it is the 21st century, science has become very advanced, and things are almost never proven to be fundamentally flawed. Evolution does exist, anyone who has studied it knows it is almost an irrefutable truth. The devil is in the detail, such as the exact mechanims, but essentially we know we have evolved from more "primitive" life forms. 500 years is not going to change that. 54839 If you're going to take me anywhere, the cinema or the circus is fine and if you don't know how, a car is fine Your point is possibly/probably correct, science seems to have moved on at an incredlble rate over just a few hundred years. Can it be said it won't continue to evolve at the same rate for the next 200? If it does, what will they think of current thought? Moot point from me really, maybe not helpful in this discussion as it's utterly unquantifiable. Sorry. 54846 For the most part though I'd say 'science' (as we understand it) hasnt suffered that many major discreditings in recent history. More its been a case of gradual understanding and development-and even where there have been mistakes, the mistakes themselves have been what future generations have learned from. So in a way even the mistakes are valid (or have a purpose). 54850 2 words for you MM, 'cheese' & 'moon' i rest my case 54858 Manc Mag may have completely different meanings for those two words.

About 600 AD I think. Anyway, if that's the case (in bold) shouldn't the Nation of Islam have come up with a name of their own. 54840 So is CC a nation of Islam believer then? Becuase frankly, they sound like a bunch of racist nutters? Or have I been super-whooshed? 54843 Please, please, please credit me with some intelligence. I thought you might be amused by it and who knows, maybe the sheer force of their arguement may have brougth about some kind of 'Road to Damascus/Darlington' vision and you might then become a God-botherer....... 54851 Oops. Sorry.

We all need to read up on a lot of things. It wasn't a dig, I could answer your questions in a very long post but I think one authoritative source on the subject would clear a lot of things up for you. 54824 Well, that's the problem with message boards. Far too many people speaking total cobblers (myself included)! Especially Alex.

Although it does cause a lot of problems in the world and has in the past, it's also true that religion was often just an excuse. If you take the example of the rise of Protestantism in what is now Germany, it was more a case of the heads of state wanting political indepedence from the Holy Roman Emperor than believing Catholicism was flawed. 54817 Yes, but who does have the better chicken casserole? 54818 Delia 54822 Gordon's the man though. He would kick all the others' ass. Yo!

I would agree Jesus wasn't a Christian, it's hard to be a follower of one's self after all. I think he was probably Jewish though 54820 Forgive my ignorance, but wasn't the religion of islam formed in 700 AD or thereabouts?
