Suppose not 59017 I'll check with Happy Face before I can comment on whether I think it's racist or not 59018 Actually, it would read better if you referred to them as pakistanis before you got to the punch line I reckon.

That's not really very funny, is it?

What I found disappointing was the utter negativity we showed, which a lot of fans just seem to have accepted - I even heard some saying it was a great performance after the first half. Bollocks, it was the Arsenal match over again. I know its against Chelsea, but that was a very worrying performance. We really are piss poor up front when our first choice strikers are out, which in the case of Owen will be frequently, unfortunately. And our defence is as shaky as ever. What's the solution? All I hear on here is we have to replace X or buy Y. But where's the money going to come from? Despite spending £50M we are still a very mediocre side under Souness. Sack him before christmas imo, if we want to progress.

Yes, it was £120 each. I agree with what you say, but I know for a fact they are charging me more than a standard single fare, which I think is unacceptable. Guess I'm probably shafted. Bye bye new mp3 player.
-
I think it probably is the standard price (outrageous I know). Writing to them and putting your case may work though. Perhaps you could lay ot on thick regarding the circustances and being a loyal customer, blah, blah, blah. The person inspecting the tickets probably hasn't got much leeway over that sort of thing and had little choice. 59000 Yeah, the conductor was Ok about it to be fair, I could see he didn't have much choice (although I was seriously thinking of giving him a bung!). I'm going to make them offer and be very grovelling/polite, but if they are intent on making me pay the full whack I'm going to make it as hard for them as possible.

I hope you're proud of yourself 58956 Should be ashamed. Anyway, despite 12 pages of waffle, the facts haven't changed. N-O is still shit and Taylor27 is the worst poster ever. 58961 That comment's gonna take us full circle, I expect an essay some time this evening! 58984 Think this place will still be around by this evening then? I'm gonna change "bringing Newcastle fans back home" to "backup board for Newcastle Online" 58990 Apparently this place is for those who have been thrown off N-O don't you know?

Just been ripped off by GNER, the set of thieving bastids. I've been away in London and used advance tickets - only £10 each. The first problem I had was the train on Saturday was late, making me miss the the start off the Chelsea match. I suppose I can just about live with that. However, on the way back yesterday the tube was delayed in the rush hour, and I just missed my train, so I got the next one, 10 minutes later. I knew I was going to have to pay an excess, that's fair enough. What I wasn't prepared for was the fact they charged me and my wife £240! Bastards! They claimed this was the price of a standard single ticket, but I am sure this is blatent bullshit. I refused to pay, so they are sending me a letter demanding payment. I'm going to try and see if they will accept less, but I know its probably to no avail, although I tempted to let them take me to court over it. Has anyone any suggestions? I can't really afford that type of money and will probably have to do without a christmas present this year. I can deal with that but just hate the feeling I have been blatently taken to the cleaners.

What a surprise SSR has brought this up..... I agree with NJS. There are certainly less female stand ups, especially on TV, but I think they are just as funny as men. If you actually go to live events, like the Hyena cafe in Newcastle, you will probably get to see a genuinely funny female stand up. I think you have to see it live to actually appreciate how hard it is, but certainly, I have witnessed women who make you cross your legs rather than go to the bog and risk getting the piss taken out of you on route.

This is the footy forum equivalent of the peoples' front of Judea tbh.

Renton, of course I take it seriously, that's just me, I always will and I ain't going to change. If it was fair critcism, or justified, then fair enough but half the crap being spouted about N.O is coming from people who don't even use it, or pop in for a quick read and then make up their mind based on one or two "bollocks" threads or some "daft" comments. FFS it's a forum, you're going to get that on any board, large and small. And you saying to me don't take it seriously, I say the same to you. Why would a few people on a message board you don't use, get on your tits? And why then slag that board and people who use it on another board, if so? Is that not taking things serious? Contradiction there Renton. At least I have a vested interest to justify my overly defensive/serious reposte to all this and a smattering of justification (in my eyes anyway). I just find all these snide remarks kind of snobby, sour grapes even and more than an unfair projection of Newcastle-Online. You'll not read people slagging this place off on our board, or slagging any fellow Toon site, I imagine people have better things to do with their time to over analyse a forum and it's members. (Unlike myself a few posts up regarding this one ) And for what it's worth, Taylor27 actually posts good stuff when not on a wind up/piss take. But then if you were an active member, you'd know that. Lastly, you need to lighten up if what you read on a message board gets on your tits. And yes, I understand the irony in that. PS Longwinded enough for you? 57922 To be honest HTT, the reason I have made my comments is because I do care somewhat about N-O. It's just my opinion, but for some reason I do think it has gone downhill, with the good posters being dragged down by the crap ones. I am perfectly aware of how snobby that sounds, but that's the way I see it - I genuinely think its a disappointing situation. To be fair, some of the comments from Gemmill, Alex, and myself have been a bit snide. I can't talk for others, but as I don't post much on N-O (and not on the Newcastle forum at all), I think I'd be accused of being a bit of a wum if I said what I have on there. This is just one thread in many though, so I don't think anyone on here can exactly be accused of being obsessed with N-O. Regards Taylor 27, well I'm not going to bad mouth him, but he does talk a lot of shit, doesn't he ( irony)? Maybe he's got a very advanced sense of humour, but if that Souness days off thread is anything to go by, it's lost on me.

Oh Lordy, I'm expecting a big one from HTT any moment now.....

3 of them were already mods, 4 asked to be mods, and the others write for the main site. 57904 I was just joking, I don't bother much with smilies nowadays (). If you don't mind me saying HTT, I think you're taking it a bit seriously. You know fine well that Alex just likes taking the piss. For the record, I think I am a snob. Some of the posters, the opinions, and the text talk over your way just gets right on my tits to the extent I just can't be arsed with it any more. I recognise this place has its problems too though, not the least the cliquey feel which ironically I didn't like on the original toontastic. The best forum I have ever been on is probably the SMB if I'm honest - it's a shame that in terms of internet message boards we are behind the mackems imo, but there you go.
-
The sun website used the term "pegged it"? Dear me, even the standard of tabloid trash is going downhill nowadays! Edit: Bollocks, beaten by a girl!

Well................... 57784 Keane given Ruud goodbye! 57837 Any excuse to get that sick filth out!

Whilst standing on the table. 57850 Seriously, have you ever seen a mouse in a house? For some bizarre reason they are really scarey.
-
That copyright sign really buggers up that joke. I see Lou's friends were out in force today, being all whacky collecting money for charidee. Children in need night tonight, aka get out of the house at all costs night.
-
It'd be really funny if it was due to a nest of mice. I'd laugh anyway.
-
You see, I'd let it lie if I could even see the joke, but I'm not sure. I think I understand why its supposed to be funny, but if I'm right then it's not remotely funny. On the other hand, I may be missing something. Actually, I might put it to the vote.

can you tell what it is yet? perhaps not a real rib tickler but not too obscure 57825 I understood that he meant Beardsley should be flipping burgers with his CV, just not why. Can you tell me why? 57829 I think there is some implication I saw Beardsley working at the cafe, which of course, I didn't. How this is funny and what the hell it has to do with his CV is anyone's guess. Howay Zico, Rob, and all you arty types, please explain.

Is the Star on Westgate road one? A bit fightening like. 57800 The Trent used to have foreugn telly like as does The Punch Bowl I think. 57802 Both significantly less frightening. I, of course, will be at Stamford Bridge because I'm a proper fan.

No, surely that can't be him? Fucking hell, 42 users on the board and all there is to show for it is a load of bollocks.
