Yeah, I tend to do odd hours. Frequently stay logged on 'til 7 pm, mainly because I've taken out 2 hours to go for a walk midday or something. I make up my 8 hours a day (but those do included faffing around on here), but no more. But sometimes when I'm logging off at 7 pm, I notice the Delhi crew are still online. That makes it gone 12 midnight there the fucking saps. Then around midday, up pops my US boss. "Starting work early today at 7am boss?". "Oh no, I'm on the west coast today, it's 4 am". Fuck. Right. Off.

Also, I'd imagine US public service is pretty stripped back as it is, they're not known for their big welfare state. Cutting 50% of staff is likely to completely collapse departments.
