I think he needs to, and will, go. But have a look at the squad at the moment - we need to bring more in before any more start to leave. Calm down,he's obviously working on that now

NEWCASTLE's Damien Duff is unlikely to play again this year because of the bone he broke in his foot in the game at Portsmouth at the end of last season. He will miss the rest of the Ireland's European Championship qualifying campaign and the start of Sam Allardyce's Toon revolution because of the injury. "It'll be way off before we will see Damien playing for us," said Allardyce. "We are talking about November at the very earliest, and that's hoping. It is a much more serious injury than say the broken metatarsal that Michael Owen suffered." Duff endured a difficult first season at St James' Park following his £5million move from Chelsea. He struggled for form and managed just one goal in 29 games before suffering the horrendous injury in Newcastle's defeat at Fratton Park, breaking the bone which joins his foot and ankle.(The People)

SAM ALLARDYCE has warned the Toon Army it will take FIVE years to turn around the ailing Geordie giants. He plans to do it by changing the club from top to bottom, and warns: The training ground here had the atmosphere of a squash club - that's one of many things that will change. Newcastle have slipped from Champions League qualifiers to also-rans in just four seasons. But Allardyce says there will be no repeat of the attempted quick-fix solutions that have seen the club blow £250 million in a decade and and end up with nothing but duds and debts. Instead he plans to bring in players hungry for trophies and give his team the best scientific back-up in the Premier League. Allardyce, who will take his players to Austria this week to start that process, told People Sport: "There is no magic wand I can wave. "We have to accept that we are not quite as good as we think we are. I need time and I need patience and I need support from everyone at the club - and I will especially need support from the fans. "The bottom line is that the club has not lived up to its expectations for many years now. The closest to bringing it to the level expected was Bobby Robson. But the club has not got to where people think it should be. "We have to keep it low-key. We can't just go out there and say if we don't finish in the top six it's a miserable season. "It took Sir Alex Ferguson, the best in the world, five years to bring success on a regular basis. "Clubs who keep their managers longest have more success than those that change their managers on a regular basis. I would hope that I would get those five years. If I am here for five years it would mean I have got what I want and the club has got what it wants - that is a successful business on and off the field. Panic buys are the worst thing you can do. "It's not about the money, it's about winning something and I hope most of the players who come here will be like that." Allardyce has already added Mark Viduka, Joey Barton and David Rozenhal to the squad he inherited from predecessor Glenn Roeder. They and their new team-mates are part of a club that is being totally revamped. "We have lost points and millions of pounds because of injuries at this club," added Allardyce. "The training ground was a squash club. It doesn't suit what you need to deliver with a group of highly talented individuals at this level. "We have to make it suit us and we are adjusting it now to accommodate what I need to do to make the players grow. All computers at the training ground now will be scrapped and thrown in the bin and we will bring in a much higher level of technology. "Keeping information about what you do and how you do it through that technology is a massive part of helping players improve their performances and making a team more successful." Allardyce also blasted suggestions Kieron Dyer is being pushed out of the club. He added: "Anyone saying that I want Kieron to leave is talking utter rubbish. "He is one of the successes of last year in that he appears to have overcome his major injury problems. "I have spoken to Kieron. He is such a versatile player that he can get used in a number of positions and that can be difficult for him sometimes. "But I will take the brunt of it if he has to be moved around. We want to grow together." Allardyce knows how desperate Newcastle fans are for a trophy, and he says: " I have won championships and promotion and been successful as a player, but never won the Carling Cup or FA Cup. "As a manager I have grown. Now at St James' Park I can achieve something I have never done before - win a trophy. "But it will take time." (The People)

NEWCASTLE have agreed a £2m deal with Barcelona for Brazilian World Cup winner Edmilson - but a bid to also bring in Eidur Gudjohnsen from the Nou Camp is likely to be put on hold. Toon boss Sam Allardyce flew to Spain yesterday to tie up an agreement with the versatile 30-year-old defender who will sign for the Magpies in the January transfer window. Edmilson will now spend six months recovering his fitness after a knee operation. Advertisement Click here to find out more! But while Allardyce is keen to link up with Gudjohnsen again, he has been told that he must first trim his squad, which includes six strikers.(Sunday Mirror)

They should have stayed underground with their fan base. I can remember their forum when they wernt in the big time and downloaded the boots etc, couldnt ever get into them. The video for "i bet she looks good" when at the end he says "Don't believe the hype" was tongue in cheek at the time but they should be saying it for real now. Boring same old
