of the under 21's Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has pulled out of the England Under 21 squad with an ankle injury. Stuart Pearce's side take on Slovenia at KC Stadium on Tuesday, but they will be forced to do so without the services of Taylor. The U21 captain suffered a knock to his ankle when challenging Darren Fletcher in Newcastle's Premier League draw with Manchester United on Sunday. Taylor, who has struggled with injuries in the past, has now returned to Newcastle to receive treatment. The extent of the injury has not been confirmed and it is not yet clear if Taylor will be available for Newcastle's league meeting with Bolton on Saturday. (sky sports)
