  1. I would think that if I was a player and the man that owned the club was sitting with the fans, I would want to play well enough for my name to be sung... might help when the contract negotiations came back up...
  2. Bring Torres with him and stop the player rotation system he uses and I would like to see him in...
  3. Hasn't Mourinho said somewhere that he was never going to manage in England again? I thought I read that somewhere... The other thing that eliminates the possibility for me is what Ashley was saying about the type of football he wanted to see at Newcastle... Does Jose give that?
  4. anyone bringing out the Hitzfield for the toon banner yet?

  6. Muslim player + abuse about a bomb = Islamaphobia Or at least that's how it looked on the face of it. People have pointed out that it was because of his resemblance to Richard Reid though personally I'm not too sure how many of those chanting were aware of the resemblance, especially since it has been a while since Reid was in the media spotlight and since Mido has gotten his hair cut the resemblance is less. I understand. The point I was trying to make was that the issue really isn't about his religion (as much) as it is his ethnicity. Emre is muslim but he isn't arabic so would the taunts have affected him as much? Or maybe a player from South East Asia (I am aware that they have had their bombings as well)? Islam wasn't even mentioned until Taylor's article. [bad joke]It is just Louise Taylor and her jihad on NUFC![/bad joke]
  7. I actually see her as being out of order tbf... she is bringing attention to Mido's religion and the fact that he is Muslim. She is the one making the connection that Muslim=Bomber, not our supporters.
  8. I don't understand how Mido=bomber is Islamaphobic, personally. Would Emre (a turkish muslim) be offended by that? Or is it Arabaphobic (that's copywrighted btw)? Religion had nothing to do with this...
  9. Regardless of your stance on Dyer, the passing of Puerta (RIP) and the incident at Leicester http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/l...cup/6963496.stm
  10. Not Glen Johnson though. He is cack. I thought he did well at Pompey last season... I think he is better than carr.
  11. I would like to see a right back from Chelsea... JM has too many of them now...
  12. skysports.com have him talking with Betis... either way it will be good to see him go.
  13. I had a feeling that I should have put LeSib on my fantasy football team...
  14. I was wondering, does anyone know what his (ex)wife does for a living that her career would be better in London?
  15. In the short time that I visited both London and Newcastle, I would definitely opt to live in Newcastle over London. I couldn't live in an area that creates so much smog.
  16. From the Boro messageboard: http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=8...ytoid=528427249
  17. Article today was saying that due to Baine's wife being pregnant that he would prefer to stay in the Northwest and Everton. I can't be bothered to find the source but I believe it was one of the ICnewcastle articles.
  18. From the Sky website... (Arsenal fan) says... Arsenal will sign Anelka and if Eduardo does not get a work permit day will also sign Martins.
  19. Interesting point. Could Zog play as Dyer's replacement? Wasn't someone saying that his preferred position was in the middle of the field behind the strikers?
  20. Couldn't find a picture but I was thinking that Sam Allardyce looks a lot like the guy who played warren in "Something about Mary"... Maybe it's just me...
  21. A little sour grapes eh Stevieintoon, they certainly fucked us up in our first World Cup in 1950 but that's probably before you were born or old enough to remember. I agree that their approach to most things is to try and change it to suit them and television but I think when it comes to football they have realised it's on a World stage and have conformed to playing it the way the rest of the world does. When they tried professional leagues before (which all failed) they tried different points systems, shoot-outs because they had to have a winner as they do in their other sports with OT's and extra-innings, but now the MSL which has been going for 12 years plays it the way we do and a draw is acceptable, sometimes hailed. Inccidently, there are more kids today, boys & girls, playing "soccer" in organized leagues than there are playing Baseball, Basketball, and American Football. Most high schools and colleges have boys & girls/men & women teams. More and more is getting on TV but the problem seems to be that they can't, as yet, get a big enough spectator following at games. I think the number of Yanks playing overseas in Britain and other nations is indicative that the sport has shown massive growth in recent years among its youth. Another thing to keep in mind is that the majority of the fans and the real driving force behind "soccer" in America is the immigrant-American and not the standard stereotypical american. The American game if/when it does get bigger will not affect the sport as a whole.
  22. The Bolton link doesn't work. Anyone have another they could post???
