  1. Nope, if you check the post breakdown for this topic, he's the most prolific commenter with 102 posts. Which probably means he'd go away if someone made the topic inaccessible to him.
  2. If Scotland leave the UK, is that a victory for Thatcher or a victory for those broken spirited socialists who you seem to think are lost in modern society? I'd say she was one of the prime causes for their disillusionment with the UK. Also, spare me the tirade about how they'll fail if they leave; they may do, but at least they're not willing to take it up the arse from London any more.
  3. Clearly not with the times as you say. Pretty incredible that people think they can say this sort of thing in public (or at all).
  4. I agree with all of this. Barcelona are a dull team to watch because of how the other teams play them. I actually rooted for Chelsea last year, and it just made me feel wrong all over. I respect Barcelona for what they are, but I'll always be backing the other side save for a handful of teams. Also agree that Ronaldo is a more complete player.
  5. To be fair, most people post outside of just one thread.
  6. ...is he talking to himself?
  7. Thanks, you're a gentleman and a scholar. Both offside anyway, so I guess it evens out.
  8. No, I was following through an MBM as I should technically be writing a report right now - Actually really gutted I missed it, I've been backing Dortmund for the whole thing. I'll have to find it somewhere, sounds like a classic fuck up.
  9. That's actually pretty staggering.
  10. Malaga apparently up in arms about that final goal. Offside several times over apparently.
  11. Er... I have a feeling some questions will be raised on that third Dortmund goal.
  12. ... I think we're done here.
  13. I think if Gala won this it'd go down as one of my favourite football moments ever. Unlikely though, it's much more probably that Madrid will grab one on the counter as Gala throw everyone at it.
  14. Just to take this topic away from this ongoing and now entirely exhausted "debate", I always find myself frustrated that public figures such as Thatcher and the Royals are celebrated quite so much in death anyway. Regardless of what she has or hasn't done, why is her death any more relevant than anyone else's? Admittedly this point is not quite so true for Thatcher, as she accomplished much more than the Royal family manage to, but even so. It's like when Diana died - I know it's taboo, but I just did not fucking get the fuss about that. They're just people. Pretty crap ones at that, spurred on by personal ambition and inherited power. I had similar feelings about that ridiculous Royal wedding, although at least we got a bank holiday out of that.
  15. Good find that, the image quality in particular is very good.
  16. I think bringing new players in over the summer offers a psychological lift to the players at the club, and I think Man City might be case in point. They just haven't been as good, even though they easily had the quality not to have to buy. I'd put it down to lack of competition/assuming they'd made it/etc. You could maybe argue something similar for our lot due to our relative over-achievement last year. I don't think Pardew is the greatest manager, but he's the first one in a long time I've been happy to just let get on with it, feeling reassured that he wants to win as badly as we do. I'm also pleased that the team seems much more motivated to have us avoid relegation - they seem to care about the club more than the previous relegation batch did, and perhaps more so than I've seen any of our players for some years now. I know it would all evaporate as soon as a better offer came in, but I can't help but think Pardew is at least partially responsible for ensuring that the club is somewhere that the players actually *want* to be.
  17. How is this still going? Also, I'd go for LBT though I know nothing of his political beliefs. It's the use of Bells that does it. I just don't get what point is being proven here. You've argued this point against almost the entire forum, pretty consistently, for 24 hours. Why?? It's not even as if this is a wind up, these are clearly deeply held, heartfelt beliefs. Also, the continuation of Nissan on our shores has more to do with favourable trading relationships caused by the EU than Thatcher. They would leave us in a heartbeat if the EU weren't part of the equation.
  18. How are you guys still working out who each other are? That'd be enough for me like, paternal club pass downs are legit.
  19. It's getting a bit scary now isn't it? 41 posts dedicated to the defence of Thatcher...
  20. My friend, Thatcher is not well loved in this country. I don't think a majority would profess to love her, and our comments here along with the thousands like them all over the country should be enough to show you that we are refusing to accept revisionist history. As long as we refuse to do that, she has not won. I mean for one thing, the Tories collapsed without her and allowed 13 years of Labour, which she was conscious for, and will surely have hated. She was demented by the time the Tories were in power again. She created the 'everyone in it for themselves' culture that has lead to mass benefits abuse, tax evasion and the break down of society. Without her, people would have been socially castigated for being on benefits - she allowed people to rationalise that they were 'doing right by themselves'. I mention benefits not because I'm opposed to them, but because she would have hated it.
  21. She was a bitch for how many lives she ruined, not because of her funeral. The state funeral would have been from the Tories. But thanks for allaying my concerns, now I can return to my indifference to her death, and constant revulsion at her regime.
  22. Given that we got relegated not long ago I think it fitting that they go through it now. It's been four years or something for them hasn't it? Surely overdue. They yo-yo back up regularly enough anyway, they'd be back.
  23. Indifferent to her death, she was a bitch but meh. Better not be a state funeral though... given how many lives she destroyed it wouldn't be appropriate at all.
  24. That's true, but having watched with a grimace so many of Cabaye's set pieces, I think that for me personally, Marveaux is putting the ball into better positions. I think Marveux could come good, he seems to be working harder and he looked useful to me today (probably would have scored had Cisse not been selfish in the first half). I'm not saying he's anything special but he worked hard for once.
