  1. All good points, but you have to consider the players who lost form as well, under Pardew. Tiote being one. Cisse last season. Sissoko last season as well actually, though he stepped it up again this year. Gouffran.
  2. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/31/steve-bruce-rules-out-newcastle-united Not disagreeing that he'd take it, but they asked him if he was ruling himself out and he said yes...
  3. I'd take McClaren I suppose. Nice to see Bruce ruling himself out - avoided all the usual rubbish so far.
  4. This is one hell of an introduction thread...the guy got Fish's back up in less than 5 posts.
  5. Is Colo really going to be able to go toe to toe with other managers in this league though? Pardew was generally a dismal manager, but he at least managed to outsmart some of the bigger names from time to time.
  6. Yeah it'll be Beardsley till the end of the year so that we all end up thinking he'll get De Boer, and then he'll hire Sherwood.
  7. Sky have suggested Steve Bruce. That sounds chillingly possible.
  8. Where was that information? Was he even approached or just asked by journalists? I can't quite believe that Ashley would have started approaching people as good as De Beor, but if he has, then at least it's a positive sign.
  9. Or Pulis. To think we could have fallen so far as to end up with Pulis...
  10. Quite possibly, but this is a more difficult one for Ashley. He can't balls this up or he'll jeopardise our top tier status. He might have to overshoot to be comfortable. Then again, he might consider that he can afford the risk with our current placing in the table...
  11. Agreed but then we're never going to get anywhere with Pardew. As such, we've nothing to lose - yeah we could get relegated but honestly, the prospect of that bothers me far less than the mediocrity of the next few years under Pardew...
  12. Is it official??? I've seen a few front running stories saying it's about to be announced but I'm not going to get carried away until it's formally confirmed..
  13. Still very skeptical. Why would Palace spend £6m on Pardew? Why? Surely they cannot be that incompetent.
  14. Fair enough I suppose, but that'd be the end of his dreams of getting anywhere with bigger clubs. Under no stretch of the imagination are Palace even a sideways step from us. Two or three down at least. I'm a little hesitant about this due to who we might end up with instead...
  15. Why would Pardew go to Palace though...? To get relegated?
  16. Trains are pathetic in this country when it comes to snow. As far as possible I avoid travelling over Christmas at all; too often it's ended in tears/delays/replacement bus services/standing in cold stations for two hours.
  17. This was entirely predictable - missed this due to family commitments but then I never expected much from it anyway. Perhaps this is it for us though - our level. Utter mediocrity. I've been hoping, slightly naively, that there might be something more than this some day, but this season has made me believe that actually, this club is never going to be going anywhere. At least there were a lot of happy childhood memories. I find myself increasingly uninterested in the sport in general these days - I guess that's what happens if you consolidate power and success amongst two or three clubs though. Coupled with the utter bullshit that's going down in Qatar, it's becoming hard for me to justify on any level why I might want to continue caring about any of this.
  18. In earnest, as can be seen from the reaction to the defeat on here, no one considers it to be a particularly big deal any more (at least on TT). Maybe that's a sign of change in attitude, but it could also be apathy about the way our club is run.
  19. To be fair, Blackpool is an absolute joke of a club.
  20. I should clarify that I'm just following the crowd, I don't actually know what we're doing here.

  22. And possibly to spite Sunderland. Still though, he made that pass to Sissoko in the Chelsea game for the second goal... he has his moments.
  23. Up at 5.30 for work - figured that if I can get in early and get a few processes going, I'll be able to shut the place down and send everyone home around lunchtime. It's amazing how motivated the team become when an early finish is on the horizon I'm exactly the same mind...
