  1. You're right on this tbf, there'd be no way back once you voted out - the UK electorate wouldn't have it and neither would the Scots, even if both countries were going to hell. Eventual propping up by the EU would beckon. I'm not personally certain that Scotland is capable of running the sort of government the SNP are putting forward (highly liberal and socially responsible) while still being able to finance the same (unless we're talking incredibly high taxes on the rich, who would inevitably flee to the UK). Maybe it could profit if the UK bails on Europe though, by lowering Corp. tax and offering the US a foothold in Europe that the UK would have been previously...but since they're not going to be independent at the time the UK's future is resolved, I'm not sure that'll come to anything helpful.
  2. Will it be feature length? I bet he ends up joining the Avengers, they all seem to.
  3. I agree to be honest, but at least if we all gave up the charade we could put some actual pressure on those in charge to make meaningful changes. The Chinese government is shit scared of the Chinese people. One significant uprising/mass protest would be all it would take to have them overthrown, and as a result of that they have to continuously be demonstrating that they're offering a better future for China. Of course, they control media narratives through state controlled press, and paint highly pro-China depictions of international events, along with extremely pro-CCP narratives for domestic affairs, which is the sort of thing that just does not happen in the UK...except that it does. I actually think I've seen the Daily Mail print more utter bollocks in an attempt to control narratives than any Chinese newspaper I've ever read (which admittedly is less than 50, but that's more than the number of Daily Mail's I've read). Our politicians do not fear us, they control and manipulate us while pretending to serve. The Chinese government controls and manipulates while actually delivering progress. If I had to choose one...
  4. Seriously mate, Ashley isn't out for revenge. What he's doing to us isn't an active demonstration of his hatred for us. He feels nothing but apathy towards us - he runs the club like a business, and the shit decisions are just fall out from that. If he really wanted to sabotage us, we'd have crashed out of the PL ages ago. Not to mention that my albeit limited understanding of administration suggests that as a director, he would be personally responsible for payment of all outstanding club debts if it could be proven that he had acted irresponsibly (which, if he sabotaged us, he most certainly would have done). This would likely include player contracts. It might even disqualify him from taking up a directorship anywhere else for a couple of years, although someone of Ashley's means would doubtless be able to work around that. Either way, he's an indifferent prick, not a malicious one.
  5. I would accept a one party state. At least then we could all stop pretending that any of this is democratic.
  6. That's worked in our favour this time but could very easily fail to do so in future. I think PR is a truer statement of democratic intention, and while I consider the whole thing to be a bit of a sham, I feel that if we're going to claim to be democrats, we should have the balls to accept what that means.
  7. Lee Clark is out of work now isn't he?
  8. I do think that he should have remained on - I think that was a key mistake last time in the leadership change, that Brown left immediately and the Tories were subsequently allowed to solidify their narrative on the economic collapse. Maybe you're right and that the right leaders will rise up, but I'm not getting a sense of any of them currently, save perhaps Yvette Cooper - and I don't know enough about her to state with any certainty that she's actually capable.
  9. Fair enough but choose from whom? They're not exactly studded with star talent at the moment.
  10. And so departed Janmaat... the 4th or 5th coming of Thompers.
  11. Ah I forgot about Darlow...yeah fair point.
  12. I thought he was perma-banned Looks like he and the Fish are destined to do this dance forever...
  13. Ahh China.... I think the key part of that article, that I would certainly agree with, is that the Chinese don't know 'how' to holiday. It's like people who play video games in order to unlock the achievements. A box ticking exercise to allow them to say that they've done a specific thing, without actually understanding what the appeal was. On Skye earlier this year I went to look at a waterfall which was noted down as a tourist viewpoint, and a coachload of Chinese tourists pulled up, ran outside, screamed at it (hopefully in happiness), took a photo, and ran back onto the bus all in less than 3 minutes. I don't think that's a problem really, certainly not on par with defecating at La Louvre but it does make me feel kind of sorry for them that they just don't 'get' what they're doing on holiday.
  14. I'm not saying he's not fucking tragic but... are we saying that Elliot isn't? We seem to lose by at least 4 goals every time he's involved. That said, if the thrust of the argument here is that we should get someone better than both of them, then yes I agree that would make sense.
  15. For what reason is it not appropriate exactly? Are they concerned about possible abuse?
  16. I enjoyed this also He's a welcome addition to the cartoonist ranks in the Guardian. Love the Ashley/Carver dig as well.
  17. That's just copiously graphic
  18. My missus is Cantonese so I'm kind of obliged to state such a preference to be honest.
  19. Dammit I knew that'd be considered questionable somehow. I'm not hugely certain on why it's a paedo thing but I'll just accept that and avoid the usage of such in future...!
  20. Can't say I'm all that into Ms. Wilson to be honest; she's hot I grant you, but...I prefer oriental girls in general - Natalie is a welcome exception however.
  21. I bet Dormer does yoga though...
