Man Utd fans seem split between wanting to finish strongly like a team of professionals and wanting to throw the game because it'd be funny. I kind of understand that point - imagine it was the other way round - we'd have a fair chunk of people who'd want us to lose the game so that they'd go down. We should probably take it as a compliment. I do think that they'll be playing kids at that point, mind you. It's gonna be an interesting weekend.

Aye that actually might be some manner of adventure, with future prospects to look forward to. Maybe we could ensure a fan held stake in the club to avoid any fuckwits like Ashley ever getting their hands on it again, etc. With the size crowd we have, we'd be back up the divisions in no time. Other teams and the media would give us hell like, but they do that anyway.

That it's come to this...

I use it when I'm in London but haven't up here yet. It's good in the sense that you don't need cash on you since they can just charge your card, you can follow the car's progress on GPS, you rate the driver, etc. I've no sense for how expensive it is really though, as you seem to need to take out a mortgage to use taxis in London in general. We were in it for about an hour trying to get to a bar and it cost about £35...

Yeah, I dunno if the post-match vitriol overdid it a little bit He's probably waiting for us to not be relegated next week when he can return to much fanfare.
-
Maybe - you can't really say that Chelsea have a particularly strong media love-in going for them, can you? Whereas Liverpool most certainly do. Actually, it's always been pretty obvious that the media is heavily Liverpool biased come to think of it.
-
I think as someone mentioned in another thread, the media needed something to get worked up about given the title is over with. Also, Liverpool fans are massively emotional, and this is an extension of that, I guess. But I agree with your assessment in general, there's no reason his send off should be more than Lampard's based on any objective criteria.

I liked this from Joey Barton though "One of his biggest achievement in my eyes, which often goes under the radar, is having the same haircut for so long," tweeted Barton. "It must be incredibly tough to ignore the trends and stick with the tried and tested 'no 2 on the top and 1 on the sides' for over a decade. "The highest compliment I could pay him is, he's a player I'd be proud to tell my grandchildren that I once played against. His level of loyalty is unparalleled. People talk about his loyalty to his club? Look at the loyalty he has shown his barber?"

Also, Carver could not play Jonas at all in fairness, and perhaps choose Abeid...but he doesn't look like the kind of guy who would choose someone based on merit.
-
Thought Jonas put a shift in though, just didn't realise that was where he was playing... which doesn't sound good really. So if Dummet goes LB, then Jonas goes midfield and hopefully Taylor goes away full stop. And then, if the stars align as well, we might only lose 0-2.
-
Who played at LB today...

I reckon there was a period in the 5th season where Pardew was forced to play 4-3-3 due to injury or something. When that happened, I think, was the last time I thought we looked any kind of good. Then whoever's injury it was that was forcing this would return and we'd be back to shite.

He ruined Fish's quiz threads - I actually quite enjoyed those Other than that, not sure. He did seem to have a lot of people's backs up, though.
-
Aye but...can anyone actually remember a good performance full stop?
-
That's not a mental image I needed.

I have posted 76 times today... that's just fucking scary. This is what happens when the missus is away for the weekend. I watch Newcastle lose and then whinge about it on here for the whole day. I'd be such a catch if I was single. On a serious note, I really need to go outside tomorrow...

I think Krul had has his confidence shaken by the shiteness of what's in front of him.
-
He's given Ashley an ultimatum mind, so I think his future his going to be resolved very soon. Just remains to be seen if he relegated us first.
-
Or wait actually, a draw could make the difference if Sunderland lose reasonably heavily in both of their remaining games and Hull win I guess...
-
Carver had switched us to a groundbreaking new 4-1-5 formation by that point like, it's not massively surprising that they were countering hard Although he'll probably do the same damn thing with WHam as well, so yeah I guess you're right. What is interesting, I guess, is that there's no point in us getting a draw next week. It has to be a win or it may as well be a loss.
-
Just had a quick scan of the Hull boards and they're pretty optimistic that we'll lose. The only thing they're weighing up is whether or not they can beat Man Utd.
-
Not sure if humanity could handle that tbh... sounds like an Armageddon scenario.
