Either way, we're not really in any different a position than we were before. We need a functional team. As soon as we get that, I've no doubt that we'll start sweeping forwards. It's just whether or not we're ever going to get there. What is clear, is that if things stay the same we're going to go down.

True but are the board going to want to spend a lot of money on players who could leave a few months later on a release clause probably worth quite a bit less than what we're paying for them? As such, would we ever agree to a relegation release?
-
Agreed, Berahino hasn't done enough to justify that kind of price IMO. Does this reflect the fact that we can't get anyone better with our current league standing though? This all smacks of short termism.

If Fish isn't getting on board with our signings then they really must be bad

Which means we're solely in the hands of Charnley... I reckon he'll be too afraid to make a move on his own.

...Jonjo Shelvey for £10m anyone...? We've prepped a bid apparently...

I'm not the one spending all the live long day on Reddit with the kids

What TV show is your avatar from, it's really bothering me that I can't remember it...!

I'm not gonna quote it due to length but that post by HF was a superb contribution. Extremely well argued.

Watford v Newcastle / FA Cup / 9th Jan / 3pm
Rayvin replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not sure about that like. Not even sure they'd be legends if they won it given how utterly shite they've been otherwise. Honestly feel like we have other priorities this year, a cup run can wait until we're stable. If we ever are. Not that it matters as we won't beat Watford anyway. -

Presumably before any of the voting has happened? Standard procedure for FIFA now, surely. -
Like fuck is Lacazette going to come here. he'd have to be fucking mental. We're supposed to spend another 50 million this window, right? I'll be amazed if we spend half that.

I dunno like, I reckon that creative centremid would keep us up. If we get a centreback and a left back as well, we should be fine.
-
Yeah I have to say like, sometimes I think we've got the shittest club anywhere - but then I remember Aston Villa.

Does Reddit not have a maximum age threshold...?

It can only get better from there though...

Bloody hell... I've seen taxi drivers arguing with people before but that sounds mental. Although I do think some people are just far too high strung on the roads - I mean, the other driver there should really have noticed your kid and toned it down.

Real Madrid have sacked Benitez and appointed Zidane... Not a massive fan of Benitez but Perez is an utter shambles. -
Mitrovic definitely feels like one for the future, but I feel as though that's the best we're likely to get here...

I mean, so many of these comments are things others have said about players like Marveaux, who you have habitually defended That said you're not wrong - every time we play well against a good team it proves how little any of these players care about the club (as the performance doesn't hold against anyone outside the top 6).
-
Our plight aside, Villa are looking beyond woeful... that has to be them down now.

Thanks for that Ant. Agree that a collection across the forum would be better spent on a charity too.

not sure I get the premise there, but Chewbacca is much improved...

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Rayvin replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
It's pretty abject but if they sack him it has to be now, not later on in the season. Either they use this window to give McClaren a chance to save himself, or they get shot now and give someone else the opportunity to have their desired players ignored in favour of cheap French imports. It's only fair. For my two cents I don't think sacking him will change anything really. He's clearly capable of putting a decent team together, and he's inherited an absolute shitshow here, but at the same time he's clearly not about to bring about any positive change on his own. But then, who could? Probably no one, because the growing reality is that it's the players who are not bothering themselves, as we see every time they go up against a team worth playing up to. I also don't think relegation will change anything. I've pretty much given up, in truth.
