  1. Have to say like, after a considerable period of time with this thread being filled with comedy gold from RTG, it's nice of the mackems to export it over here instead of one of us having to trawl through that site. That said, from the replies to his posts I can see that this guy has lost the battle, the war and his sanity, and is now trying to make nice about some shared memories, presumably triggered by the article he read that brought him here. All in all, is this the least successful wum we've had, or does CT still hold that title?
  2. Aye, it's weird actually, I'm so used to us getting pelters in the press Not really arsed either way like, but still. Here's the article in the Graun for anyone interested in the well wishing: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/25/rafael-benitez-stay-newcastle-manager-premier-league EDIT - copied some below: even one from a mackem Newcastle Utd are a sleeping giant of a club who have under achieved for decades, now finally they have a manager who can wake them up. If Ashley fulfills his side of the bargain and backs Benitez transfer targets 100%, Newcastle Utd will be winning trophies within two years. I'm so confident that Benitez will bring success to Newcastle I'm willing to come back here in two years time to be held accountable if my prediction fails... Btw, I'm not some crazy Newcastle supporter, I've seen Benitez and his commitment to his work close-up, MARK MY WORDS, back this man and anything is possible. Over to you Mike Ashley! I knew it. Good on you Rafa and good on the Toon. From a Liverpool fan. I'm a Sunderland fan - may as well put that on the table. Mike Ashley is one of the biggest tools in the business and he has done his level best to systematically ruin a big club with great support. He said he regrets getting into the football business and I hope he sells up at the earliest opportunity, indeed if Newcastle are promoted back to the BPL I think he may just do - fingers crossed for the Black and Whites, they deserve better than Ashley, the man is a tool. And this, just because it impressed me: Rafa and his family still live in an everyday, middle class area, of The Wirral. His kids go to the local state school. His wife spends her time doing community work. Seriously, they're a class act
  3. Yep, looks that way. That said, I cbf with any more of this so I've gone straight for ignore with this one now. In other news, I've been following the Guardian's coverage of Rafa being hired and there's so much positivity and well wishing from other fans (Liverpool in particular). In amongst this sea of good feeling is the odd bemused mackem trying to tear it down and totally confused at why no one else is doing the same thing. Presumably because "we're a national laughing stock". Doesn't look that way.
  4. Utter fucking rubbish, as evidenced by your presence on here.
  5. This one is too late to be here cos we were relegated. He's here because of the article
  6. As if that's what the Chinese decided the closest phonetic representation of "Zeus" was
  7. Joseph's beard? When spelled out phonetically...?? This is going to bother me for ages.
  8. Um I'm ashamed to say I don't recognise the first part of that. The second bit is beard though, right? Someone's beard?
  9. I'm gonna edit this so it no longer looks like I'm insulting myself
  10. That's very offensive in my culture.
  11. Agree with every word of this, although it should make them pitiable really.
  12. There's clearly some history coming into it, whatever it is, but near as I can tell it we're arguing over whose life is most awesome. Yep, it's come to that.
  13. They should play our under-18s, we'd see the scoreline reversed.
  14. Mackems aside though, it's a nice piece. You considered trying to get Louise Taylor's position at the Guardian HF? You've got stats, facts and a good writing style. She has none of those things.
  15. The best thing about it is that we've got weeks/months of it to come. There's going to be more articles like this one and more posters like the mag above who are furiously gnashing about how unbothered they are. Reality has cracked and they don't know which way is up atm, bless em. They know which way down is, mind. The desperation to believe this, man. I don't actually think for a second that he does believe it, they all know that this relegation hasn't had the effect on us that they hoped. FFS, they can compare it to last time and see that. But because they've got literally nothing else to hit us with, they're clinging to it. "the best thing about it is that we've got weeks/months of it to come" He's fucking gutted about that, it's written all over his posts.
  16. Superb article, and classic response from RTG that underlines the sentiment in the whole thing. Well played, sir.
  17. I'd agree with that. If Caulkin's right and Rafa has £20m to spend, and can get another c.£20m for Gini and Sissoko, I'd be all for it. A £40m budget in the Championship should be more than enough, even with the loss of those two. de Jong can replace Gini, and we can comfortably get a decent PL standard winger to replace Sissoko for less than a quarter of that £40m.
  18. If this season taught us anything, it's that they definitely fucking need to.
  19. WTF happened here then Love how quickly that deteriorated.
