Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Rayvin replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yeah that's a fair statement. A dignified response. Doesn't make me think he's a decent manager but at least it's ended with a modicum of professionalism on his side, which has been lacking on ours. -
Absolutely fantastic. I'm going to disregard all misgivings and just get behind him until the season end. This should get the fans on side, the team motivated, and the game plan in place. I guess even a stopped clock like charnley is right occasionally.

Fucking finally. -
dear me...

He had Suarez though... I'm not sure how much we can look into that performance as being indicative of his overall quality as a manager. I guess you could argue that all top teams have good players though.

tbf, if not for the craic on here I woulda chucked the towel in with this club ages ago. It's the gallows humour and shared suffering that keeps me hooked. -

Do you reckon this is all simply because Charnley can't make up his mind? I'm really starting to hate the guy. He's paid a lot more than all (most?) of us and yet seems utterly incapable of making a meaningful decision. I would have made a decision by now, I know that. He's opened the door for constructive dismissal, morale falling, even potential sabotage in terms of what McClarens got the players doing in training with this shit show going on in the background. It's crazy. He's acting like a junior manager. -

... So we're having McClaren train them for a game he won't be overseeing. Genius. -

Charnley man. Fucking Charnley. If he fucks this up now... -
As usual, no one has a fucking clue what's going on. And I fully include Charnley in that.
-
For ten games only surely, So that he has the chance to abandon ship when we go down...
-
Gouffran might be a much easier guy to work with in truth. Imagine telling Ronaldo he's being converted into a defensive centre mid.

God, fuck off Charnley. Seriously this isn't even funny anymore, he's utterly hopeless. -
That probably translates to Charnley attempting to start a dialogue and repeatedly being told to fuck off. The man is a turnip.

I'm not going to get into a large discussion on this one so will respect your points. Only thing I feel I should add is that women earn more than men up to the age of around 35. When they choose to have children. There's possibly an argument to be had there in terms of social expectations for who stays home, but there isn't one for pay, at least in that age range.
-
That said, this is an international day so it's one of th few opportunities we get to focus on the plight of none middle class white women. And that should be encouraged.
-
I dunno like, I think this gets a lot more attention then it deserves in the west. There's absolutely a lot of work to be done elsewhere in the world but some use this as a vehicle to progress their careers (see all guardian opinion writers) and seem only concerned with the already successful lives of many n middle class women. How many working class people are on boards through the country? Why is this not made more of? There's a case for improving equal access for opportunity throughout the country but it doesn't need to be specifically driven at women. Not from what I've seen of board rooms anyway.

Does sound as if Ashley is keeping his nose out of this though. Almist looks like he wants Charnley to crash and burn alone. Which he's managing. -

You know what, the club deserve relegation if they're unwilling to deviate from their fucking stupid head coach idea. Let them burn. That said, we'll never get moyes if he wants 4m... -
And yet they have a lower rate of teen pregnancy than we do...weird world.

@ Renton - If she retires following this then maybe you're right. I just can't see why she would take the fall for this, especially given she was already being paid over half a million a year. How much money would it take to persuade someone to admit to this if you're already paying them that much? I guess the other scenario is that she went to Short/the board, told them and told them her plan for dealing with it. They potentially then agree as long as she takes the fall if it goes south. Seems like this she only resigned because the Guardian got their hands on something. Either way, as you say there's no way of knowing. At least someone has been held responsible though.
-
Just as another point on this, she is paid about 5 times what Charnley is and yet was incompetent enough to do this despite a background in law. Says it all.
-
Exactly, the pay off was the only other thing that makes sense but it's hugely risky.
