Aye, to be fair - judging by that other thread, if a few refereeing decisions had gone our way that didn't we'd have been midtable. Our squad is not that shit.

I do see what you're saying but I've felt for a couple of seasons that the reason there was such dominance at the top of the league was predominantly due to CL money. The PL has effectively eaten away at the proportion of overall income that CL qualification grants though, which means, financially speaking, teams are much closer to an even footing. On top of that, to get hold of the players who will actually improve them, the top teams will be paying through the eyes. The lower teams won't be I reckon - they'll pay a slight premium but will only really have to outbid European clubs of a similar stature, not the heavyweights. So the superclubs might get one or two world class players, but the others could feasibly get 4 or 5 very good players with a greater overall impact. Could be wrong like, but I think the PL has fundamentally changed.

Not disagreeing per we but if there's one things the Man Utds of this world showed us last year it's that spending mental amounts of money is a guarantee of fuck all. I reckon it'll be a close league for all concerned. Actually, we're a pretty good example of that as well

I do support Remain, but I reckon it'll happen with or without Corbyn. I think this is one of those times I can have my cake and eat it tbh, risky as that may sound. Otherwise agree that this doesn't seem to be high on Labour's priorities, and that this is likely because Corbyn doesn't support it.
-
Not sure the Germans will win it tbh, they've been poor recently (by their standards). Reckon this is the kind of tournament where England could have a chance if we weren't so shit at internationals. As it is, I reckon Portugal, Croatia or Belgium. Teams from that standing, just below the heavyweights.

Knowing mackem logic they're just as likely to end up calling him Phil.
-
What would they call him then exactly? George?
-
What are they saying about it exactly?

I think it comes down to electoral viability versus principles once again. I didn't vote him in to win an election (bizarre as that may sound, and at the risk of Renton wading in and clobbering me with a multi-post anti-Corbyn barrage), I voted him in because I didn't want to compromise my views any more. That said, it'd be ideal if he could be electorally viable as well as allowing me to vote for my principles. And sadly, he isn't very good at making noise on the big points.

Aye but surely you could go to any other team's forum and have a more meaningful conversation with much less bile. You could also come back here with more quizzes and stuff
-
I sometimes wonder if there's just something we can't see that goes on behind the scenes with these decisions... like, maybe the FA applies pressure or something like that.
-
no, you're advanced for your age. You'd be a collosus amongst mackems, if you were one.
-
Aye you might be right there. Corbyn clearly has his doubts about the EU and I guess it would be easy for the Tories to come out and reference his past opposition. On the other side here one, the Tories are in a lose lose position so maybe playing it safe isn't the worst thing if they can emerge positively in the referendum aftermath while the the government tears itself apart. Much like the Tories did with the financial crisis I might add.

Have to agree on that point. Labour's inaction is highly peculiar and quite disappointing. Presumably there's a strategy behind it but it's hard to see it. Maybe they're trying not to go at this too hard for fear of not hoovering up the UKIP vote after its all over. I think I read that a narrow outcome or a leave vote will see off Cameron... I dread to think what we'd then be faced with.

Thought he had an 8m release clause?
-
Clears a lot from the wage bill as well. Makes sense on all levels.
-
Are there not better options for 10m...? I've not followed him too closely though, if he was near the top scorers last year then maybe it makes sense. That said, would he fit the system we'd play?

Ok this is just fucking stupid now. This twerp is either 15 years old or the saddest man alive. Either way he's worth none of anyone's time. ILDC at least can be charming in his delusions but from what I've seen of the arguments you're having with 'CountyDurham' he's ignoring all salient points and scattergunning the same shit he entered the thread with several days back. I suggest we just let him and essemmbee fight to the death and otherwise totally ignore this thread. CountyDurham, firstly, I won't see your response to this as you're on ignore so knock yourself out in ranting at me. Secondly, if you're prepared to come back on here when Sunderland next get relegated/we overtake you again and take some of the shit you've been throwing around back at you, then you'll have my respect. Given that you won't do that, I think we can all judge what an insecure fucking tit you are. Most of what you're throwing at us are projections not on behalf of all Sunderland fans, but on behalf of you. Which makes you a weapons grade fuckhead. And on that sunny note, I'm going to give this topic a miss for a bit.

Good choice on the car and the speed limiter. No point in paying out more than you have to. Besides, you don't wanna be risking speeding in the first two years anyway given that getting caught twice revokes your license.

Yeah it's getting harder to forgive Madrid for being a team of knobs. Sure they're successful and they won't care how they're viewed (except Ronaldo), but seriously unlikeable. Pepe, Ronaldo and Ramos. Unpleasant.
-
Pleased for Bale. That's about it really. Was really hoping that Ronaldo would miss his penalty but I guess that was never going to happen really. Shame for Atletico. They're just perpetually not quite good enough.

48 from ILDC himself, apparently...
