That would be encouraging but would the masses go for it? For instance, if Germany is taking on and naturalising many tens of thousands of Syrians, won't the racists just complain that they'll get in as well?
-
That's a good encapsulation certainly of how I feel.
-
Sissoko to Liverpool for £12m is doing the rounds. Not bad that, although represents quite a fall from grace for him given that we were confident we'd get £20m a year ago.
-
Totally forgot cisse existed...
-
Not very clued up on this lad but obviously hope it works out. Nice to see us spending some money either way.
-
Don't sit on the fence Noelie, say what you feel.

I was looking at German citizenship requirements earlier for a totally non-referendum related reason...*cough*...and it looks difficult. However, I believe Germany to be an extremely well run country and expect that their policy is well thought out. Unlike anything we're doing at the moment.

The NHS needs reform but I don't think I'd swap it for anyone else's.

Can't blame him though. Best of luck to that lad, hope he isnt pardewed.

Hard to disagree with Renton on that CT, Sunderland is one of the most British born cities in the country. Largely cos no one wants to live there like, but for them, xenophobia must play a large part. In fact, maybe if they'd had more immigrants, and therefore less fear of the unknown, they would have been more likely to vote Remain.

I draw your attention to my post immediately after the referendum:
-
All sounds very positive for you. Of course, it could go the other way, and we could see Labour implode and UKIP steal a march. Either way, I have no long term interest in being governed by the Tories, so I'll continue with quitting the country. I bet this scenario you've just painted is going to chafe for the working class though
-
A number of Tories seem genuinely shaken up about this, and betrayed by Gove. Both parties in civil war by the end of the week?
-
I'm starting to really miss Cameron...
-
You're fucking kidding me That utter, utter fucking charlatan.
-
Maybe he will, but you'd have to think that this would be damaging for his ego. On the other hand, maybe you're right - maybe he reflected on this over the subsequent few days and decided that actually, this is going to be a nightmare that he wants nothing to do with, and Gove has attempted to step up into the vacuum. That's being really generous to all participants though. May saying Brexit means Brexit. I'm starting to think this is going to be every bit as isolationist, xenophobic and downright stupid as we feared.
-
Also, how can anyone trust Gove He betrayed Cameron, and now he betrays Johnson. The man is as ambitious and ruthless as they come.
-
Some Tory MPs now suggesting that the Tory party membership are going to be up in arms about Gove knifing Boris in the back. I look forward to Boris' reaction personally.
-
Do you get a vote for that £35?

-
Agree on the no GE - the Tories will be concerned about getting caned on this issue. I don't think they would actually, but after losing the referendum like that they must now think that anything is possible. Do we need one, is the question. Labour need one like a hole in the head, so they won't care that we're not holding one. It's probably only the Liberals and UKIP who'd want one. I'd rather the Tories continue on than face the prospect of UKIP having any influence. EDIT - That is assuming of course that 'the establishment' finds some way to reverse this mess.
-
Boris deserves this, the fuckhead. I still hope he comes out and torpedos the whole thing though, once he's left to the side.
-
Theresa May is going to take us out of Europe properly by the sounds. This is depressing. Boris, if he has been stitched up here as seems apparent, could do us all a favour and come out with the truth about leaving the EU.
-
Even Parky is concerned now. Hoping for the establishment to bail us out.
