Why do you think that...? The Tories are smack bang in the middle of what now passes for the centreground. She's not exactly going to take them to the left, is she?

Barely an hour before Andrea’s announcement, Theresa May had been launching her own bid for the Tory crown in Birmingham, implying that life was too short to stuff a Leadsom. May declared of her overwhelming victory in the parliamentary stage of the contest: “The result shows that after the referendum the Conservative party can come together.” Admittedly, they came together for an orgy of political homicide. But having devoured their weakest, the nest must now move on together to find new food sources. Marina Hyde in the Guardian. Always superb and scathing, but this was my favourite passage. Rest of the article here: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jul/11/leadsom-fresh-meat-tory-orgy-political-homicide

Let's be honest, this whole thing has shown up the political classes to be total lightweights.
-
Fair enough, I hope you're all correct about this though. Which bits of freedom of movement would we cut out exactly do you think? Surely not blocking specific countries...
-
How can you (any of you) be so confident about this? Given everything that has transpired in the past couple of weeks, what makes any of you think the Tories have a plan? What makes you so certain that, even if they do, they can deliver any of this? I mean, don't get me wrong, I hope you're all right. Very much so. But I just don't see it.

Well, the word prioritised was taken from the Guardian, but I'm struggling to see how anyone can come to a different conclusion. Care to spell out how that statement doesn't effectively mean that stopping freedom of movement is more important than trade? Given that Freedom of Movement 'Cannot continue' and trade and services will get 'the best deal possible'. Pretty clear to me.
-
It's not what it says unless you believe that the EU is going to allow us to remain in the single market without freedom of movement. So, unless there is EU reform. Or am I missing something?
-
Put simply, we are out. Not even Norway style out, we're out like Zimbabwe is out. This has been a disaster beyond all reckoning...
-
Q: Would you stay in the single market? May says she wants to get the best deal for trade in goods and services. But free movement of labour cannot continue. The Brexit vote was very clear on that, she says.
-
Hasn't May literally just said that stopping freedom of movement will be prioritised over staying in the single market? She's going full blown brexit man.

My god, the level to which I despise the Tories has reached heights totally unforeseen to me up until today. They should be voted into oblivion for this utter fucking chaos.

Just put an offer in on a house myself, which was accepted... first time, kind of unsure about the whole process. Expecting to be gazumped.

that is actually pretty pathetic

Agree with that. Looking forward to winning some games at the very least. Then we hit the PL without fear next year.

One thing's for certain, CT has fucking loved this referendum.

Haha I'll have to look for that next time (for someone else). I go a few times a year, mostly cos its just a good laugh.

Other than that goal, and that initial scoring spree, his sum contribution was that he was offside.

The highlight was dream on by aerosmith. Never before has that song been murdered so hard.

On a different note, I am fucking hammered. Karaoke man... it's fucking lethal.
-
I'm starting to feel this way too... This is a good argument though. Ultimately we should be angry at Neo-Liberalism rather than each other, I suppose.
-
It's a culture war more than a religious one IMO. Either way, we don't help ourselves in how we handle the middle east.

But I thought that the West was in no way responsible for rise of Islamism, and that saying anything to the contrary made you a terrorist sympathiser?
