Absolute bollocks And I hate Osborne.

So as things stand, everything that has occurred you're saying has been both expected, and not serious?

In other news, the PLP conference appears to be on the brink of descending into a full blown shouting match, and there's a huge rally outside backing Corbyn, largely made up of the SWP. Hard to argue the party hasn't been hijacked on that evidence, albeit it's only a small proportion of the overall Corbyn voter base. I think as JJ said, Labour is fucked. Who's going to save you now, CT?
-
CT for fucks sake, this must be starting to sink in now.
-
Also worth noting the fact that he is sponsored by the Sun...

Marina Hyde is superb

I don't mind Cameron doing that though tbf. Johnson deserves for this to be as painful as possible.
-
Oh ffs, this is going to be a slow motion car crash of an event isn't it.
-
It took me way too long to work out what was being said here.

There's also no guarantee that they'll actually be able to oust him if it goes to a leadership contest. I think they're trying to force him to stand down. If it goes to a contest, and he wins (as seems likely), where do we go from there? They won't have a leg to stand on. Party split in two?

EDIT - Maria Eagles gone too. How the Tories must love the Labour Party... this is sensational stuff No coming back from this IMO, whatever happens. Will be really interesting to see if they manage it.

Aye, this thread is basically everyone attempting to demonstrate to CT that the risks were too great with facts, evidence and statistics, and him ignoring us. He was initially undecided though, until it became clear that so many of us thought Brexit was a bad idea. Then he knew what his position had to be.
-
Exactly - the Tories are going to have to abandon their 'austerity'/ideological shrinking of the state in order to make up the shortfalls. Which they won't do, because if they did, they may as well be the Labour party.

Share trading suspended for RBS and Barclays.

Germany has just set out that we have to trigger Article 50 before any talks can happen. So there goes that plan. Boris and Gove are going to have to play a blinder here.

CT - aside from the arguing, is there anything that has come to light post-Brexit that you feel is either not what you were promised, or which looks like it will be bad news for the country? Not asking you to regret your vote, just curious if you can see any downsides at all. In terms of upsides, if we somehow manage to replicate our access to the EU with no meaningful changes, but are also then free to look at trade globally without restriction, this may be positive. That said, I don't understand the dynamics fully. And I can't be certain that the benefit will outweigh the publishment we'll get from Europe. Hypothetically it could be a positive though. Also believe that politicians could now take the time to fear and cater for the working class vote. More of a byproduct than a direct effect of leaving the EU though.

This is a really good post - the money is, of course, going to come from students. Fees will rise. That's the young damned again, CT.

Labour MPs dropping like flies now, it seems. Hard to see how any of them think this is going to end well.
-
The country has been in turmoil all weekend. They haven't had the weekend off, they've been frantically trying to work out what to do. EDIT - If they have had the weekend off, they're even more irresponsible than we all think they are.
-
That's no excuse for not having a plan mate. They've let us down badly here.
-
Not if they knew that new leadership was going to come in. Which was necessary really for the Tory party to avoid pulling itself apart. Also, just to be clear, are you now criticising Cameron?
-
I'm not actually but I'm in anyway
-
Senior Conservative Leave MP apparently. Didn't want to be named, obviously.
