  1. I think there's something worth pointing out here mind, throughout this - the stuff we saw post-Brexit was the reaction to the news. Not the actual consequences of leaving. That said, some of these reactions will form consequences (the pound seems unlikely to recover any time soon). So yes, the reaction is levelling out. It's probably not worth carrying out short term comparisons of the FTSEs now. I do believe there will be long term implications, and that we will be able to point to Brexit as a cause of them (positive or negative) but we haven't seen them yet IMO.
  2. Seriously, who is this guy that he's worth making this much fuss over? He was a defender in a shocking team from January on. Is he actually an good? I always got the impression he was 'decent' but nothing more. Posters on there saying he's the best defender they've had in 15 years and so on. I can believe that but it's not saying much.
  3. They probably think they did us a solid with Shearer
  4. I would just point out that you're happy to keep it for that month if they're prepared to cover the costs you're concerned about. They might be ok with that and if they aren't it'll bring any issues to the fore.
  5. Depends why you want it?
  6. I guess we'll see mate, maybe you're right. As nice as it'd be to think they'd implode, there's so much dross in the PL now that I think a competent manager actually can make a difference. Maybe it's an insurmountable challenge though.
  7. Just browsed through the match thread on Villa Talk. Fucking hilarious stuff They full on think they're going to be relegated again.
  8. Sunderland manage to stay up every single fucking year. Every year they're either the worst or second worst team in the league, and they just somehow make it. I'd be very surprised if they went down. With Allardyce I would have agreed, but not with Moyes.
  9. Based on what though? Moyes is definitely capable.
  10. Sadly no chance of them going down with Moyes at the helm. I think they'll be lower mid-table at worst.
  11. Looks like Everton's interest in him has cooled mind. Or it was all a sham and he's angling for a new deal. Sometimes I think Sissoko might be doing that
  12. Between that and his posts about Sardinia, I think he's high.
  13. I enjoyed Suicide Squad personally; was kind of theatrical in the classic DC way, over the top in places and so on. Watchable throughout and hard to think of a lot wrong with it. Agree with DK on the movie's main starring role though...
  14. I honestly don't care where he ends up as long as we get decent money for him. That said, I reckon if decent money was likely, it would have been offered by now. I reckon we're looking at something close to £20m as he becomes desperate and agitates more for a move.
  15. tbf, it does actually sound more relaxing than struggling to get into overcrowded pubs.
  16. Yeah you shoulda been out on a boat with the Fish I'm picturing something Lonely Island esque when I imagine that...
  17. We are getting a bit top heavy with left backs, it has to be said.
  18. I wouldn't put anything past footballers in terms of being able to extract money, but I think the higher fees for mid-contract players are in light of the fact that said player can't easily force a move, aren't they? The fear a club has when someone is coming to the end of their contract is that the player might go for nothing by simply holding out on signing a new contract. 2 years into a 5 year deal, they can't do this as the club can force them to stay put - so the club gets to call the shots on the asking price. That was always my reading of it anyway. The problem is, my reading is informed almost entirely by Football Manager, so I'm not pretending to be any manner of expert!
  19. Wouldn't it be his loyalty bonus that we'd pay him? Surely not the rest of his contract... Is that how it works these days??
  20. China appears to be testing us with respect of how desperate we are in our post-Brexit outlook... I think the reality here is that we don't know how desperate we are yet, which is why the government has failed to give a conclusive response.
