I think I read somewhere that he thanked Obama for his involvement as it made victory more likely... He's not a modest winner, Farage.

Did anyone notice that Farage has gone out to the States to proclaim the liberating virtues of Brexit at a Trump rally? Apparently 8/10 of the audience had no idea who he was or what Brexit was about. What on earth is the point in getting him up there, you have to wonder. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/aug/24/nigel-farage-donald-trump-rally-hillary-clinton

And Van Persie (though he was good for that first season)... and Wesley Sneider, I think? It does seem to be Galatasaray's thing.- 1745 replies

Well, true enough - but I really hope it isn't Stoke... -

I don't, that'll give him CL football. And in the Scottish League he'll actually tear it up. I imagine that'd make him feel like he was worth something. I'm with ewerk tbh, I hope he goes to a good team and is shown up for what he is, leaving in ignominy 18 months down the line and signing up for Galatasary.- 1745 replies

I think he's handling himself ok too - I think it's the media that are making a big deal out of it. The only sad thing to my mind is that he'll end up at some shithouse club like Stoke. -
I liked that one. It was different and done quite well.

This, all the way. The only team who are stupid enough to make a purchase along the lines of the fee we're talking about without scouting him are Real Madrid, and their interest has faded/was fabricated. It'll be interesting to see him get on in the Cship.- 1745 replies

All cowards tbh.

I'm going to wait until nearer to the end in the hope that the discourse returns to being intellectual and not hysterical.

I think that's the fundamental disconnect though - Corbyn doesn't trust the media so just doesn't 'bother' with them. Instead, he mobilises support from the grassroots up. This shouldn't phase the media unless they genuinely put a lot of stock in their ability to control the way we think and vote - which I obviously believe they do, but some disagree. If Corbyn bypasses them and goes straight to us, they've lost control though. I don't think any amount of PR is going to save him on the media front now though, the only option is to keep ploughing ahead until they either manage to make him irrelevant or he eventually proves that he has more influence over people than they do.

...How would that be in any way fishing? Fishing for what? People who believe he's an idiot? Dear me...

I think we can all agree that needed to be said three times.

Well said.

Yeah it's hard to have any real concerns on scoring potential at this stage, we look strong. I suppose cover for Mitrovic would have been useful but that now looks unlikely. EDIT - MInd you, Rafa was saying the other day that he sees them as competing for the same spot rather than necessarily being linked up (though he said that was possible too) so I don't know how likely we are to get the pairing we all expect...
